
Senior Staff Test Engineer - Electric Engines

As Senior Staff Test Engineer you will be responsible for;
- Conduct reliability and certification testing on electric propulsion systems, including motor, gearbox, and inverter assemblies for aircraft.
- Develop comprehensive test plans and collaborate across engineering teams to ensure successful execution.
- Lead a team of test engineers to deliver testing milestones on schedule.
- Design, develop, and procure complete test setups for DO-160 environmental testing, design verification, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation.
- Perform and oversee high-voltage and power electronics testing; design, build, and operate high-voltage lab equipment.
- Supervise and execute HIL regression testing to validate system performance.
- Build and maintain digital infrastructure for test data storage, analysis, and visualization.
- Analyze test data and present results through dashboards and detailed failure summaries.
- Document test outcomes in clear, structured reports to support aircraft certification efforts.
- Adhere to safety protocols when working with high-voltage systems.
- Lead root cause investigations for device failures and drive continuous product improvement.
Qualifications;
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 7 years of experience in roles such as Test Engineer or Systems Engineer.
- High-voltage testing of batteries or power electronics systems.
- Development of high-voltage and high-power test setups.
- High-voltage safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E or equivalent).
- System integration and testing of high-voltage systems.
- Software regression testing and HIL testing.
- Root cause analysis of system failures.
- Technical report writing.
- Tools such as National Instruments, LabVIEW, and MATLAB.
Location: Onsite in San Jose, CA
Salary Range: $265,000 - $295,000
