Job Summary
This is a contract electrical engineering position within the R+D Hardware Engineering team designing, testing, and integrating PCBAs into analytical instrumentation as part of new product development. This is a full-time, hybrid position located in Boulder, CO. Although some design work can be done remotely, a physical presence will be required to support testing and system integration.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Create PCBA designs and BOMs through the creation of detailed drawings, schematics, PCB layouts, and models using applications such as Altium following best practices
- Design digital and analog hardware utilizing FPGAs, microprocessors, ADCs/DACs, power supplies, and control circuitry to meet functional and performance specifications following best practices
- Participate in design activities through design reviews, prototyping, and communicating schedules, milestones, and status to project teams
- Create and execute test plans to qualify components and board designs, verify performance, and document results
- Coordinate with contract manufacturers, troubleshoot and bring up PCBAs, and ultimately release your design to production using Engineering Change Orders and a Configuration Management release process
Education & Experience
- Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in analog design as well as product design, development, and test of electronic assemblies and instruments
Qualifications:
- Solid technical background with understanding of digital and analog electronic circuit design, electronic systems, as well as related software
- Experience using engineering CAD tools for circuit board design and schematic capture (Altium Preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting while working in a lab environment during board bring-up, characterization, and system level hardware integration using test equipment such as a DMM, oscilloscope, pulse generator, current probe, spectrum analyzer, etc
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively work within a larger cross functional team
- Ability to develop new designs to satisfy user and functional requirements
- Familiar with component selection
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of PCB manufacture and assembly processes including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT)
- Experience designing for EMI/ESD protection
- Experience integrating embedded system processors, low-level firmware, and FPGAs
- Familiar with circuit simulation and modeling tools such as PSPICE and MATLAB
- Agile, rapid prototyping mindset when working with other team members to expediently explore parallel options and provide recommendations for the best approach
Location: Hybrid in Boulder, CO (3 days in-office)
Salary Range: $120K-$150K
