Job Summary:
- The Interior Cockpit Design and Release Engineer (DRE) – Consoles and Doors is responsible for the design, development, and release of center console systems and interior door trim panels.
- The DRE will ensure seamless integration of storage, electronics, trim surfaces, and comfort features while achieving program objectives for cost, timing, and quality.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead supplier collaboration and design reviews to ensure compliance with specifications and performance targets.
- Develop DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and boundary diagrams for console and door systems with focus on durability, craftsmanship, and ergonomics.
- Support integration of infotainment modules, HMI controls, HVAC registers, storage solutions, and decorative trim.
- Ensure proper design and packaging for door hardware, electronics, sealing systems, and side airbag modules.
- Manage CAD models, drawings, and design changes using NX and Teamcenter.
- Oversee physical validation and vehicle build support, leading issue resolution through structured problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with safety, noise-vibration-harshness (NVH), and regulatory standards.
- Apply best practices and lessons learned from prior console and door programs to optimize cost and manufacturability.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automotive Engineering (ABET-accredited).
- 8+ years of experience with console, door trim, or cockpit system design.
- Knowledge of GD&T and safety/ergonomic requirements for console and door modules.
- Experience with NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks and PLM (Teamcenter).
- Ability to manage suppliers and cross-functional team deliverables.
- Strong communication and issue resolution skills.
