Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Manager to lead our team of Windows Support Engineers. The role involves overseeing the administration, maintenance, and support of Windows-based systems, ensuring operational excellence, and aligning team efforts with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Windows Support Engineers.
- Delegate tasks and projects effectively, ensuring team productivity and performance.
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and individual check-ins.
Operations Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and support of Windows servers, desktops, and related infrastructure.
- Ensure efficient incident and problem management processes, minimizing downtime.
- Monitor system performance metrics and ensure compliance with SLAs.
- Manage escalation processes and ensure timely resolution of critical issues.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement strategies to improve system reliability, performance, and security.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
- Contribute to infrastructure planning, upgrades, and migrations.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to align team goals with organizational objectives.
Technical Oversight:
- Provide guidance on complex technical issues and escalations.
- Ensure best practices are followed in the configuration, patching, and security of Windows systems.
- Oversee Active Directory, Group Policy, and domain management.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend enhancements.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of systems, processes, and policies.
- Generate reports on team performance, incident trends, and system health for senior management.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for system and team effectiveness.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills:
- Extensive experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Windows 10/11, and Active Directory.
- Proficiency in Group Policy management, DNS, DHCP, and PowerShell scripting.
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms like Hyper-V, Azure or VMware.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments.
- Strong understanding of IT security protocols and compliance standards.
Management Skills:
- Proven experience managing IT teams, particularly in Windows support.
- Strong organizational, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications, such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Project+ or ITIL Foundation
- Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM) or similar (preferred).
