We are seeking an experienced Windows and Active Directory Engineer with 8+ years of proven expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-scale Microsoft environments. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Active Directory (AD), Windows Server, Group Policy, and related technologies, with the ability to provide strategic insights and hands-on technical solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and Architecture
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-scale Active Directory environments, including domain controllers, trusts, replication, and disaster recovery.
- Architect secure, scalable, and reliable solutions to support business needs, including integration with cloud services such as Azure AD and Microsoft 365.
- Develop strategies for identity and access management (IAM), directory services, and policy enforcement.
Operations and Maintenance
- Manage and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, patching, and performance optimization.
- Oversee the health and security of the AD environment, including regular audits, monitoring, and troubleshooting replication issues.
- Create and manage Group Policies to enforce security standards and operational efficiencies.
Security and Compliance
- Implement and manage secure authentication protocols, including multi-factor authentication (MFA) and single sign-on (SSO).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies by conducting regular audits and implementing necessary remediations.
- Respond to and mitigate security incidents related to Windows and AD infrastructure.
Cloud and Hybrid Integration
- Support and implement hybrid AD configurations, including synchronization with Azure AD and other cloud-based services.
- Manage and troubleshoot Azure AD Connect, Federation Services, and related integrations.
- Optimize hybrid environments for performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaboration and Support
- Provide advanced technical support to resolve escalated incidents and service requests.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including networking, security, and application teams, to ensure cohesive infrastructure operations.
- Document technical designs, configurations, and processes to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to Windows and AD infrastructure.
- Propose and lead initiatives to modernize infrastructure, enhance security, and improve operational efficiencies.
- Conduct training and mentoring for junior team members and IT staff.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience
- willing to work in US hours
- Must have good communication skills
- Expertise in Windows Server (2012r2/2016/2019/2022) and Active Directory domain services.
- In-depth knowledge of Group Policy management, DNS, DHCP, and certificate services (PKI).
- Hands-on experience with Azure Active Directory, Azure AD Connect, and hybrid identity solutions.
- Strong understanding of security concepts, including LDAP, Kerberos, NTLM, and OAuth.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, VBScript, etc.).
- Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for AD environments.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with identity governance and administration (IGA) solutions.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMware).
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and logging tools (e.g., SCOM, Splunk).
Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent.
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
- Other relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, ITIL, CCNA) are a plus.
