Job Title: Associate Database Administrator
Location: Pune or Remote

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our SQL Server environments. This role demands strong expertise in traditional database administration and awareness of emerging trends such as cloud-native databases, automation, security hardening, and AI-powered performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Administration & Maintenance
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade SQL Server instances (2016+ to 2022).
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning as needed.
- Manage and automate backups, restores, disaster recovery (DR), and high availability (HA) solutions (AlwaysOn, clustering, log shipping).
- Perform routine health checks and manage index and statistics maintenance.
- Performance Optimization
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues using tools like Extended Events, DMVs, and third-party monitoring tools (e.g., LogicMonitor, Spotlight, Solarwinds).
- Leverage AI-based advisors or AIOps tools for proactive performance insights.
- Security & Compliance
- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), Dynamic Data Masking, TDE, and Auditing.
- Manage user roles and permissions based on least privilege access.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with data governance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
- Automation
- Create PowerShell scripts, T-SQL jobs, or PL scripts to automate routine DBA tasks.
- Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure
- Understanding of Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances for SQL Server.
- Support database backups to Azure storage.
- Innovation & Optimization
- Keep up-to-date with advancements like SQL Server 2022 Intelligent Query Processing.
- Recommend and pilot new technologies (e.g., AI query tuning, autonomous indexing, Copilot for DBA).
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience as a SQL DBA in enterprise environments.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server (2016–2022), T-SQL, PowerShell.
- Understanding of Azure database services (preferred).
- Familiarity with tools like SSMS, Azure Portal, or SQL Sentry.
- Knowledge of database design, data modeling, and normalization.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proactive in adopting modern technologies and practices.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
