Position Summary
The Telecom Manager will lead and manage the Telecom Operations team responsible for supporting and optimizing enterprise and client network infrastructure across global environments — including data centers, Azure cloud, and U.S.-based client sites.
This role requires strong operational leadership, technical depth in WAN/LAN/Voice, and hands-on experience managing ISPs, escalation processes, costing, and installation activities for U.S. clients.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Technical Management
- Oversee daily telecom operations for MPLS, Internet, SD-WAN, VPN, and ExpressRoute environments across global and U.S. clients.
- Manage end-to-end ISP lifecycle — from feasibility checks, ordering, costing, and installation coordination to operational handover.
- Drive ISP incident and escalation processes, working directly with service providers in the U.S. to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize network performance, QoS, and bandwidth utilization.
- Ensure configuration standardization, compliance, and audit readiness across all routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure permanent fixes for chronic issues.
People & Team Management
- Lead a team of Telecom and Network Engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance management.
- Manage team workload, task allocation, and shift coverage in a 24x7 operational environment.
- Encourage collaboration, accountability, and ownership within the team.
Project & Implementation Management
- Oversee telecom infrastructure projects, including Azure network build-outs, ISP migrations, QoS rollouts, and VPN deployments.
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to ensure consistent implementation of standard network designs.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts with Telecom, Cloud, and Security teams for project delivery.
- Maintain documentation for network topologies, SOPs, and escalation workflows.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with multiple ISPs and telecom vendors in the U.S. and globally.
- Develop and maintain an updated vendor escalation matrix and SLA compliance tracker.
- Review and analyze telecom invoices and service costs, ensuring billing accuracy and cost optimization.
- Work closely with client operations, procurement, and leadership teams for coordination and reporting.
Reporting & Governance
- Track key metrics: incident response times, SLA adherence, chronic issue trends, and cost performance.
- Present weekly and monthly operational summaries to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with internal security, policy, and governance standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in telecom or network operations, including 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven hands-on experience managing ISPs — including procurement, installation, costing, and escalation handling for U.S. clients.
- Deep technical knowledge of Cisco networking, BGP, VPNs, QoS, firewalls, and WAN technologies.
- Experience with Azure Networking (vWAN, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Route Server) preferred.
- Familiarity with SD-WAN, LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, or other monitoring tools.
- Strong communication, vendor coordination, and leadership skills.
Preferred Certifications
- CCNP / CCIE (Enterprise or Service Provider)
- Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700)
- ITIL v4 Foundation
- PMP (optional)
