Who We Are
The Muñoz-Cánoves lab at Altos San Diego Institute wants to unravel the biology of aging in tissue communication and tissue rejuvenation programming and help translate these findings into impactful new treatments.
What You Will Contribute To Altos
To understand the molecular, cellular, and metabolic mechanisms associated with transient cellular reprogramming, the mechanistic basis of cellular rejuvenation, and decipher the mechanism of cellular and tissue aging, focusing on skeletal muscle as a model system.
A great opportunity is available for Scientists to join Altos Labs in the Pura Muñoz-Canoves Lab at the San Diego Institute of Science (San Diego, CA). We seek highly motivated, skillful, and teamwork individuals who are passionate and dedicated to using their wet lab expertise to contribute to unraveling the deep basic biological mechanisms underlying cell health and resilience, including basic science and preclinical programs. Specifically, someone with expertise in in vivo mouse work and familiar with cell and tissue metabolism, and with biochemistry and protein-related benchwork experience will be greatly valued.
The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external experimental groups, lead or participate in planning experimental designs, author and contribute to biological and methodological manuscripts, and contribute to seminars and other scientific initiations within Altos and a broader scientific community. Develop project-specific experimental strategies, techniques, and procedures. Carry out research projects in collaboration with the PI and senior scientists. Your work will lead to the generation of public knowledge in the form of publications; intellectual property in the form of patents; and will directly shape Altos’ pre-clinical programs.
