ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Head of Registry at ALU, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of higher education. We are seeking a visionary leader with a strong background in data-driven operations and a passion for student success. This role will require you to oversee the entire registry function, ensuring that our academic processes align with our innovative mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Systems & Process Management

  • Leverage expertise in data analysis and IT auditing to drive strategic decisions. Develop robust data systems and processes to inform academic policies, improve student experiences, and optimise operational efficiency.
  • Design and implement innovative systems and workflows to streamline registry operations, reduce administrative burdens, and enhance student satisfaction.
  • Oversee the implementation and effective use of IT solutions to support registry functions, including student information systems, academic records management, and course scheduling.
  • Oversee the management of policies, processes, and operations of the Registrar’s Office.
  • Review, develop, design, and implement procedures and business processes for records, registration, and scheduling to increase department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide oversight for integrity and accuracy of student academic record-keeping and transcript production and ensure all student education records are maintained in an accurate and secure manner.

Academics 

  • Publish and maintain the course catalogue, including course prerequisites, special restrictions, expected class size, course descriptions, faculty assigned, section schedule, and degree requirements.
  • Play a key role on the Enrollment Management team, collaborating with colleagues from various units to ensure effective student recruitment, admissions, and retention.
  • Develop, propose, and implement a multi-year academic calendar that aligns with ALU's strategic goals and operational needs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements, including data privacy laws and accreditation standards.

Leadership

  • Build and manage a high-performing team of registry professionals. Provide mentorship, training, and support to foster a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and student services to develop and implement strategies that support student success and retention.
  • Effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to build strong relationships and promote a positive image of ALU.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all young persons and vulnerable adults with whom we deal,  by adhering to ALU’s comprehensive safeguarding policy, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to any violations of safeguarding standards. 

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a focus on information technology, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, IT auditing, and process improvement Experience in a registry or similar role, preferably in a higher education setting an added advantage.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in student information systems (e.g., Salesforce, Oracle), data analytics tools, and relevant software applications.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, manage projects effectively, and drive organisational change.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.

Preferable

  • Experience in a non-traditional or innovative higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of international education standards and best practices.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making and predictive analytics.
