ABOUT THE ROLE

The SL Data Analyst plays a critical role in empowering the Student Life department to make data-driven decisions and optimize the student experience. This handles all aspects of Student Life data management to extract meaningful insights and inform strategic initiatives. In addition, this person will ensure data integrity and effective utilization of all data platforms and tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Management:

  • Data Collection:
    • Develop and implement data collection strategies to gather relevant information on student engagement, program participation, satisfaction, and other key metrics.
    • Utilize various data sources, including surveys, event attendance records, student feedback forms, and Salesforce data.
    • Ensure data quality and accuracy through validation and cleaning processes.
  • Data Organization:
    • Organize and structure data in a clear and accessible manner, utilizing databases, spreadsheets, and other data management tools.
    • Develop and maintain data dictionaries and documentation to ensure data consistency and understanding.
  • Data Analysis:
    • Conduct statistical analysis, trend analysis, and other data analysis techniques to identify patterns, insights, and trends in student life data.
    • Interpret data analysis results and translate them into actionable recommendations for program improvement and strategic decision-making.
  • Reporting and Visualization:
    • Create clear and concise reports and visualizations to communicate data insights to stakeholders, including the Student Life team, senior management, and external partners.
    • Develop dashboards and presentations that effectively convey key findings and trends.

Salesforce Ownership and Representation:

  • Salesforce Administration:
    • Serve as the Salesforce owner and administrator for the Student Life department, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and security.
    • Manage user access, permissions, and data security protocols.
    • Configure and customize Salesforce to meet the specific needs of the Student Life department.
  • Salesforce Training and Support:
    • Provide training and support to Student Life staff on how to effectively utilize Salesforce for data entry, reporting, and analysis.
    • Develop and maintain training materials and documentation on Salesforce usage.
    • Troubleshoot Salesforce issues and provide technical support to users.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Utilize Salesforce to track key metrics, generate reports, and analyze data related to student life programs and activities.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that provide insights into student engagement, program effectiveness, and other key performance indicators.

Managing Direct Report:

  • Supervision and Guidance:
    • Supervise and provide guidance to the Administrative Associate, ensuring efficient and effective completion of tasks.
    • Delegate responsibilities and provide clear expectations for performance.
    • Conduct regular check-ins and performance evaluations to provide feedback and support.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all young persons and vulnerable adults with whom we deal,  by adhering to ALU’s comprehensive safeguarding policy, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to any violations of safeguarding standards. 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analysis, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
  • Experience managing or supervising staff.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis techniques and statistical methods.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

  • Salesforce Administration: Proficiency in Salesforce configuration, customization, and data management.
  • Data Visualization: Skills in creating clear and compelling data visualizations.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Soft Skills:

  • Communication and Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and foster collaboration.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Skills in analyzing data, identifying trends, and drawing meaningful conclusions.
  • Leadership and Management: Ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate effectively, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
