Director, HR Business Partner - Research & Tech Ops

We are seeking an experienced, motivated Director HR Business Partner in a rapidly growing South San Francisco based biopharma company. This role will be a key member of the Alumis People and Culture “P&C” team, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of People & Culture and working closely with leaders across the business to proactively ensure healthy and productive functional and departmental performance, identify and address emerging organizational issues and foster a vibrant, supportive and resilient culture that is aligned with our values. The HRBP is a trusted and strategic business partner to leaders at all levels of the organization including functional leaders, department heads, and executives.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and HR Ops to serve as a trusted partner to people leaders on staffing, employee training and development, and continuous performance management.
- Leverage business and HR acumen to promote and develop people strategies that drive business performance.
- Proactively Identify opportunities and solutions to emerging needs in the organization and promote a positive and inclusive workplace climate. Objectively recognize latent issues and discern root causes based on knowledge of organizational structure and people dynamics.
- Design and deliver scalable HR programs and initiatives in the areas of performance management, recognition, career development, organizational design, succession planning, talent development, and employee engagement in partnership with key internal cross functional stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and sounding board for Alumis employees and people managers, assuring that their perspectives are heard and considered.
- Lead the year-round performance management process including facilitating mid-year and end-of-year talent review and development discussions.
Level/Qualifications
- Direct experience working in a biopharma matrix cross-functional environment is required. Prior experience working in a start-up phase biotech organization is highly desired.
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Fully experienced in multiple human resources disciplines including organizational diagnosis, performance management, and employment laws.
- Forward thinking, and strong capability in diagnosing problems and predicting outcomes.
- Proven successful track record and knowledge in organizational and employee development, performance management, employee relations, and change management.
- Extensive capacity to influence business leaders; organizational agility and savvy.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
The salary range for this position is $235,000 - $240,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may very based on the Company’s compensation practices.
This position is located in South San Francisco, CA and employees are expected to be onsite Tuesday-Thursday.* At this time we are not considering remote applicants.
