We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Scientist for the Drug Product Development group who can work in a collaborative and dynamic environment. The scientist in this role responsible for activities critical to the development of Alumis’ molecules including generation of preformulation packages and develop formulations for preclinical research. The primary focus of this role will currently be to work closely with the research team to support formulation selection and preparation for preclinical PKPD, toxicology and FIH study of small molecules.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute preformulation experiments including characterization of physicochemical properties (kinetic/equilibrium solubility, pKa, LogP/D, solid/solution state stability, dissolution) and solid-state properties for investigational small molecules.
- Identify vehicles, excipients and/or new technologies to support formulation development, routine formulation preparation and analysis for preclinical PKPD, efficiacy and tox studies
- Work closely with chemists, biologists and DMPK scientists to support various research programs to facilitate the candidate selection to advance to first in human clinical study
- Work effectively with external vendors to oversee the preformulation and formulation development activities and assist in troubleshooting to meet the project timelines
- Provide data summaries to support authoring of technical reports summarizing early development reports
- Manage in-house lab material inventory, equipment and lab compliance to safety/hazardous requirement
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Hands-on experience in pre-clinical formulation development working with research to formulate poorly water-soluble compounds
- General understanding of how to execute experiments to characterize the physicochemical and solid-state properties of small molecules
- Experience in performing preformulation studies including physicochemical and solid-state properties
- Hands-on experience in HPLC/UPLC analysis and method development is preferred
- Hands-on experience with DCS, TGA, DVS, and PXRD instruments
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting lab instruments
- Ability to communicate experimental results in 1:1 and team settings
- Experience in cross-departmental and external vendors collaboration
- Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment
- Willing to travel as needed to support ongoing research projects
EDUCATION
- B.S. degree in related field (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering) or related field with 2 years related industrial experience preferred
This position is located in South San Francisco, CA and employees are expected to be onsite Tuesday-Thursday.* At this time we are not considering remote applicants.
