Senior Medical Director, Endocrinology

We are seeking an experienced medical professional to serve as the Senior/Executive Medical Director, supporting the lonigutamab program, reporting to the SVP of Clinical Development. The successful individual will play a pivotal role in advancing the clinical program in Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) from Phase 1/2 through regulatory approval. You will provide leadership and contribute to the strategic planning, execution, and management of the lonigutamab program which recently completed a Phase 1/2 study in TED. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive the clinical development strategy, contribute to the scientific and medical vision, and provide leadership in the development of innovative therapies to address unmet medical needs in TED and related inflammatory conditions with lonigutamab, an IGF-1 receptor antagonist.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Broadly represent the interests of Alumis as a senior leader and spokesperson for Clinical Development within the fields of Endocrinology and Immunology
- Provide leadership in the management and oversight of the global lonigutamab program in TED
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and external stakeholders to advance clinical development programs and enhance company visibility.
- Effectively influence cross-functional teams within Research, Biomarkers, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Regulatory and Business Development as an expert within the Endocrinology therapeutic area and broadly across immune mediated inflammatory diseases (IMID)
- Design and develop clinical studies and cross-functional initiatives
- Provide strategic support and implement clinical strategies across early and late-stage clinical development programs
- Closely interface with early development groups to define opportunities to explore new areas for scientific inquiry, including new indications and line extensions for molecules across the development pipeline
- Collaborate with colleagues from Business Development on due diligence opportunities that support both early and late-stage development collaborations, as well as co-development opportunities with external companies and acquisitions
- Coach, manage, inspire, and support team members to achieve business goals by leveraging an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset
- Maintain the highest levels of integrity within development and standards for scientific inquiry in drug development
- Collaborate with CRO to provide medical monitoring oversight in the next phase of development for lonigutamab
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- MD or ex-US equivalent with board certification or eligibility in Endocrinology or in a related immunology disease area with > 6 years of mid to late stage drug development experience, preferably including TED
- Accomplished R&D professional with credibility to interface with Key Opinion Leaders, external health organizations and regulators within endocrinology and/or ophthalmology
- Proven leadership skills, as evidenced by having managed people within a pharmaceutical company or in a clinical/academic environment
- Ability to interact effectively in a cross-functional setting
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, presentation, and communications skills (written and verbal) to effectively address all levels within an organization
- Ability to assess, understand, and communicate continuously expanding medical and scientific information, as well as knowledge of commercial dynamics impacting drug development
- Strong business acumen and ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners to achieve enterprise goals
- Effective negotiation skills that enable the candidate to influence without authority
- Proven professional track record of strategic, organizational, and executional skills to support project planning across multiple activities, with the ability to anticipate and prioritize one’s workload across multiple projects of equal importance
- Ability to work across diverse teams in a matrixed organizational structure, both as a leader and as part of a cross-functional team
- Approaches deliverables in an organized manner with attention to detail and is able to meet timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work autonomously and with a high level of independence
- The position will be filled and compensated based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications
The salary range for this position is $280,000 USD to $350,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.
This position is located in South San Francisco, CA and employees are expected to be onsite Tuesday-Thursday. Open to remote applicants with requirement to be onsite once a month.
