Senior Manager FP&A - Clinical & Development

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, FP&A – Clinical & Development to join our team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This position will serve as a strategic business partner to the Clinical and Development organization, supporting a growing portfolio of clinical studies and development candidates. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing planning processes, partnering closely with Clinical Development leadership, and assisting the Sr. Director of FP&A in overall planning strategy and execution. This position will also involve close interaction with the accounting team during month-end close processes.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely within Clinical and Development team to provide effective planning and analysis; provide senior leadership & business partners with appropriate tools and analysis to establish goal and measure performance.
- Attend program team and development leadership meetings.
- Responsible for financial reporting, including monthly comparison of actual vs. budget results and relevant variance analysis, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with the Accounting team on monthly close to ensure accruals and expenses are recorded accurately and promptly.
- Assist Sr. Director, FP&A in the management of the LRP and budget processes, support compliance of internal controls, preparation of finance materials for the Board, and other high priority projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate, influence, build credibility with business partners across the organization & especially with Clinical and Development team.
- Educate project team leads and functional heads about the budgeting process and the importance of their role in a successful process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting or relevant degree.
- 7+ years of progressive financial reporting, planning and analysis experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Prior experience supporting R&D organizations and/or teams is highly preferred.
- System savvy, ideally with experience implementing or overseeing financial planning and reporting tools. Experience with Adaptive Insights is a plus.
- Strong and advanced Excel modeling and analytical skills as well as solid accounting knowledge.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
The salary range for this position is $160,000 USD to $200,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.
This position is located in South San Francisco, CA, with an expectation to be onsite Tuesday through Thursday. While we prefer local candidates, remote applicants based in the Pacific Time Zone will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
