About Alumni Ventures

Alumni Ventures is one of the world’s most active venture capital platforms, with $1.4B+ in assets raised and investments in 1,600+ companies. Our network of 850,000+ members and 40+ dedicated investors connects accredited individuals to high-quality venture deals—typically reserved for institutions—through our alumni-driven communities and diversified co-investment strategy. With offices in Boston, New York, Chicago, Menlo Park, Manchester, NH, London and Tokyo we’re rapidly growing and committed to fueling entrepreneurial success while developing the next generation of VC professionals.

We believe our best work happens when we’re together. AV operates as a 5-day-a-week, in-office culture because collaboration, mentorship, and shared momentum matter.

About the Role

The Senior Partner plays a critical role in Alumni Ventures’ growth: turning prospective investors into first-time AV investors and creating the foundation for long-term relationships.

Reporting to the EVP of Nurture Marketing as part of the Investor Conversion Pillar, you will own inbound and warm prospect conversations from qualification through close. You’ll serve as an internal expert on high-quality investor calls, quickly understanding what brought each prospect to AV, what they want from venture exposure, and which AV offering best fits their goals.

This is a solution-selling role, not a scripted sales role. Prospects come to AV with different motivations — from accessing compelling individual deals to building diversified venture exposure — and you’ll adapt the conversation accordingly. Depending on the investor, that could mean a syndicate deal, an Alumni Fund, a Focused Fund, or the Foundation Fund.

Your first priority is zero-to-one conversion: helping a net-new prospect make their first AV investment. Just as important, you’ll establish the trust and understanding that can support a long-term, annual-allocation relationship, which our Relationship Management team will carry forward.

What You’ll Do

  • Own inbound and warm prospect and investor calls end to end, from qualification through close.
  • Prioritize zero-to-one conversion, helping net-new prospects make their first AV investment while establishing a strong foundation for the Relationship Management team to build on.
  • Quickly identify each prospect’s motivations and adapt your approach in real time rather than relying on a fixed talk track.
  • Use active listening and thoughtful discovery to understand what an investor wants from venture exposure, then connect those needs to the appropriate AV offering.
  • Listen for buying signals, hesitation, and objections, adjusting the conversation to help prospects make informed decisions with confidence.
  • Communicate AV’s “see the deal, then decide” approach, helping prospects understand the investment opportunity and access available through AV before asking them to make a broader commitment.
  • Maintain disciplined follow-through by accurately documenting call outcomes, prospect insights, and next steps in HubSpot and actively advancing your book of leads.
  • Partner with Marketing and Nurture teams to share feedback on lead quality and help improve the messaging and education prospects receive before reaching a Senior Partner.
  • Contribute to the continued development of Senior Partner coaching, call-quality standards, and performance practices as the Investor Conversion Pillar grows.
  • Use AI tools to strengthen prospect research and call preparation, synthesize relevant information, and create timely, personalized follow-up while applying sound judgment to every investor interaction.

Who You Are

  • You bring 7+ years of experience in a closing sales role, ideally involving financial services, investment products, or another high-consideration, relationship-driven sale.
  • You are a strong verbal communicator who can build trust, sustain engagement, and guide nuanced conversations effectively over the phone.
  • You listen before recommending. You are skilled at diagnosing what a prospect actually needs and matching your approach to different motivations, levels of investment experience, and buying signals.
  • You are comfortable adapting in real time when a conversation takes an unexpected direction rather than relying on a prescribed script.
  • You can learn and speak credibly about venture capital, fund structures, and portfolio construction, or have demonstrated the ability to quickly develop fluency in complex products.
  • You can maintain a high volume of prospect conversations without sacrificing call quality, accurate documentation, or follow-through.
  • You are comfortable receiving specific coaching based on call recordings and performance data and putting that feedback into practice.
  • You have experience using HubSpot or a comparable CRM for pipeline management, call documentation, and follow-up.
  • You actively use AI tools to improve how you work, including prospect research, call preparation, and follow-up, while applying your own judgment to the output.
  • Experience selling to retail or high-net-worth accredited investors is preferred.
  • Familiarity with syndications, SPVs, or other alternative investment products is preferred.

A Note to Candidates

We recognize that talent comes from many backgrounds. If you're excited about this opportunity and believe you'd be successful in the role, we encourage you to apply—even if your experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification listed above.
