About the Role

Alumni Ventures (AV) is seeking an experienced investor relationship professional to deepen engagement with our existing investor community and help investors make informed decisions about their long-term venture capital portfolios.

As VP, Relationship Management, you'll own a portfolio of hundreds of existing AV investors, including some of our most significant relationships. You'll serve as a trusted resource, helping investors understand their portfolio composition and performance, navigate the dynamics of venture capital investing, and explore how a diversified, multi-vintage investment strategy can support their long-term goals.

This is a highly relationship-driven role that combines substantive investor education with proactive portfolio management. You'll spend much of your day in meaningful conversations with investors, building trust through thoughtful guidance, consistent follow-through, and a deep understanding of AV's investment approach.

You'll work closely with AV's Managing Partners, Investor Services, and Community Relations teams to strengthen investor relationships and create an exceptional investor experience. This role sits within Investor Relations, reports to the EVP of Investor Relations, and is based at our Manchester, NH headquarters, five days per week.

What You’ll Do

  • Build lasting investor relationships. Own and proactively manage a portfolio of hundreds of existing AV investors, developing trusted relationships through personalized engagement, thoughtful education, and consistent follow-through.
  • Lead meaningful portfolio conversations. Conduct 6–8 structured investor portfolio reviews daily, helping investors understand portfolio composition, performance context, investment timelines, and the dynamics of venture capital.

  • Educate investors on venture investing. Develop deep expertise in AV's investment methodology, fund offerings, and portfolio construction strategies, translating complex concepts into clear, accessible conversations.

  • Support long-term investment planning. Identify opportunities for Venture Planning conversations, helping investors explore how diversified, multi-vintage venture capital investments may fit into their broader investment strategy.

  • Drive proactive investor engagement. Understand where investors are in their investment journey, anticipate questions and needs, and prioritize outreach that strengthens relationships and supports continued engagement.

  • Partner across AV. Collaborate with Managing Partners, Community Relations, and Investor Services to coordinate investor communications, address complex questions, and create opportunities for connection across the AV community.

  • Deliver an exceptional investor experience. Serve as a knowledgeable, responsive point of contact for sophisticated investors, bringing sound judgment, active listening, and care to every interaction.

  • Maintain strong relationship intelligence. Keep accurate, comprehensive CRM records of investor conversations, portfolio reviews, planning opportunities, and follow-up activities to support continuity and effective relationship management.

  • Continuously improve how we work. Share investor insights and recommend improvements to our engagement strategies, processes, products, and services while maintaining high standards of professionalism, compliance, and information management.

Success in this role will be measured by the quality and consistency of investor engagement, including 6–8 completed investor portfolio reviews daily, Venture Planning conversations initiated and completed, investor satisfaction, reinvestment rates, and the quality of CRM documentation.

Who You Are

  • An experienced investor relationship professional. You bring 10+ years of experience in financial services, investor relations, or a related client-facing field, with a track record of building and sustaining meaningful relationships with sophisticated individual investors.
  • A knowledgeable investment communicator. You're comfortable discussing investment performance, portfolio construction, diversification across vintage years, and long-term investment horizons, and can make complex financial concepts understandable without oversimplifying them.

  • An exceptional listener and relationship builder. You ask thoughtful questions, recognize what matters most to investors, and build trust through empathy, credibility, and follow-through.

  • Comfortable engaging sophisticated investors. You have experience working with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and can navigate nuanced investment conversations with confidence, discretion, and sound judgment.

  • Energized by high-quality, high-volume engagement. You enjoy spending your day connecting with investors and can consistently manage 6–8 substantive portfolio review conversations while maintaining a personalized, thoughtful approach.

  • Proactive and highly organized. You can manage hundreds of ongoing relationships, identify engagement opportunities, maintain accurate records, and balance immediate priorities with long-term relationship development.

  • Intellectually curious about venture capital. You're genuinely interested in emerging companies, entrepreneurship, portfolio performance, and investment strategy, and motivated to continuously deepen your expertise.

  • A collaborative, adaptable teammate. You work effectively across teams, welcome feedback, share ideas, and take ownership of delivering results in a fast-moving environment.

  • A clear and credible communicator. You bring strong verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to educate and influence through trust rather than pressure.

Preferred, but not required:

  • MBA or equivalent advanced business education.

  • Experience with venture capital, private markets, or other alternative investments.

  • Experience educating investors on long-term portfolio construction and investment strategies.
