Engineering Manager

United States (Remote)

Industry Insight

Transportation logistics is the foundational industry that powers everything we rely on daily, yet it remains a complex and fragmented domain ripe for technological revolution. The US transportation logistics industry alone is an $800 billion market. Alvys is not just participating in this change; we are driving it as the fastest-growing Transportation Management System (TMS) in history, uniquely positioned to truly transform this essential sector. Your role will be at the forefront of automating and standardizing a sector that moves trillions of dollars' worth of goods annually, predominantly by truck, but still lacks modern tools and solutions. Your leadership will help bridge this gap, bringing innovative technologies to a traditionally underserved and mission-critical industry.

About Alvys

Alvys is the fastest-growing Transportation Management System (TMS) in history, uniquely positioned to dominate and truly revolutionize the $800 billion US transportation logistics industry. We're not just iterating on old tools; we're building a world-class, multi-tenant SaaS platform from the ground up to automate, standardize, and transform this essential sector. Join us to apply your technical vision to one of the economy's most mission-critical and underserved markets, making a massive, tangible impact on the movement of global goods. This is where industry experience meets cutting-edge technology to create the undisputed market winner, and you will be a core part of that journey.

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager focusing on ML and AI, you will lead a talent-dense, US-based team tasked with automating workflows across our SaaS platform, enabling tenants to book more freight with lower costs. Your leadership will be instrumental in integrating advanced AI and ML solutions into our product, driving significant advancements in a sector crucial for the movement of goods.

This role is ideal for a technical leader with a strong background in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science. You will be responsible for guiding the technical direction of our AI initiatives, mentoring a team of engineers, and collaborating closely with product managers and designers to deliver innovative solutions that optimize freight transportation logistics.

Our Tech Stack (for Engineering)

  • Backend: .NET / C#, ASP.NET, TypeScript
  • Frontend: React (with some Angular), JavaScript, TypeScript,
  • Mobile: Flutter + Dartr
  • Databases: CosmosDB (NoSQL), Postgres, Elasticsearch, Snowflake

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and scale ML models and AI-driven solutions using frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, ensuring they are optimized for real-world transportation logistics.
  • Lead the full lifecycle of AI features, from initial data engineering and model training to deployment within a cloud-native Azure environment.
  • Integrate predictive models and intelligent reporting systems into the core .NET/C# and CosmosDB ecosystem, ensuring seamless communication between the backend and AI services.
  • Operational Excellence (MLOps): Implement and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and monitoring via Azure Monitor to ensure model performance, reliability, and fairness in production.
  • Partner with Product Managers to translate complex logistics challenges into technical roadmaps and actionable AI innovations.

The Experience You Have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years focusing on machine learning, AI, and data science.
  • Proven track record in developing and deploying ML models and AI solutions at scale.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, C#, or Java, with strong knowledge of ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and deploying AI/ML solutions in a cloud-native environment.

The Way You Work

  • You Own the Outcome: You thrive in an environment of high autonomy. You don’t just hand off code; you take pride in seeing your solutions through from inception to long-term maintenance.
  • Innovation through Experimentation: You balance practical application with theoretical curiosity, constantly looking for ways to harness AI/ML to solve "unsolvable" logistics problems.
  • Safety First: You thrive in our blameless culture. When a model underperforms or a deployment fails, you focus on the "root cause" rather than the "who," sharing lessons learned to help the whole team grow.
  • Transparency: You operate with trust and fairness. Whether you're discussing model bias or architectural trade-offs, you communicate with clarity and honesty.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive Equity: Become a true owner in Alvys and share in the success as we scale the future of logistics.
  • Medical, Dental, & Vision: Comprehensive coverage to ensure you and your family have access to top-tier healthcare.
  • Remote-First Culture: Enjoy the flexibility of working from wherever you are most productive in a culture built for distributed success.
  • Unlimited PTO: We prioritize results over hours and trust you to take the time you need to recharge.
  • Parental Leave: Support for your family with leave policies designed for life’s big transitions.
  • 401k Retirement Plan: Tools to help you plan for the long term and build your financial future

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
