ABOUT THE DATA  DEPARTMENT

We are a team of passionate and dedicated data engineers, analysts and scientists who are on a mission to build data products that solve the needs of our customers. This includes a data warehouse, BI dashboards, Impact tracking and Predictive & AI models.  We work as business partners with our key stakeholders to empower them with data access, visibility and insights to make data driven decisions and optimise outcomes (enrolment, payment, retention, placements)  across the talent journey to enable growth and scale while minimising costs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a mission driven organisation, impact tracking and reporting  is one of the most important tools to increase visibility on how we are progressing on our mission and build trust with our customers. 

Impact tracking and reporting  

  • Define and communicate a compelling product vision for impact tracking that aligns with the organisation's goals and the needs of our partners.
  • Design and implement frameworks (including Theory of Change) to improve how we track outcomes across the talent journey from selection to placements. 
  • Work with business stakeholders to standardise key impact success metrics definitions and develop/maintain a data dictionary to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Work with the BI team to enhance our unique real-time impact tracking dashboard for use by external stakeholders, partners and investors. This includes developing interactive visualisation, longitudinal and disaggregated reports that showcase our outcomes (graduates, placements, promotions, salaries, employer feedback etc) and how we are transforming the lives of our learners.
  • Foster an iterative product development process, incorporating feedback from our internal and external stakeholders. 

Establish our Data Warehouse as the one source of truth

  • Oversee the full life cycle of how data is used within the organisation owning all aspects of the  data roadmap including the process of collecting, organising, storing and making the data available.
  • Work with business stakeholders, product managers and engineering to develop and execute a prioritised roadmap for consolidating data sources across the organisation into a single source of truth. This includes designing layer(s) in the data warehouse that merge data on a given learner from multiple data sources into a single store suitable for analytics.

Data democratisation and  self-sufficiency

  • Ensure that data is available for use by various stakeholders across the organisation (Business teams, Product teams, BI teams, Data Science teams) with the right compliance, privacy, security & access control measures.
  • Champion data literacy and a data driven culture within the organisation and drive adoption rates.

KPIs

  • On time and accurate impact reporting to our key stakeholders
  • Customer CSAT
  • Increased data access and visibility
  • Increased funding from partners 

Requirements

  • 5+ years of data product management experience, with familiarity in definition requirements to build data pipelines, data warehouse, analytics platforms, and machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience in Business Intelligence, SQL and ability to deep dive into raw datasets to find key insights.
  • Have worked on complex, non-routine analytical problems, applying advanced methods when needed.
  • Experience in reporting tools like Tableau or Looker or AWS Quicksight (plus).
  • Ability to identify, refine and lock Data & Analytics requirements for creation of technical Data Stories, considering Data product criteria that will serve as guideline for Data Engineering efforts.
  • Knowledge of best practices within the analytics/data engineering space.
  • Familiarity with tools in the "modern data stack" including dbt, Redshift, Airbyte.
  • Self-starter who can proactively identify and solve problems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with strong data storytelling skills.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
  • Skilled in balancing risk with time-to-market objectives.
  • Previous engineering/developer/data science background is a plus.
  • Experience managing projects with remote teams is a big plus.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in business management or related fields OR Bachelor’s or higher degree in a STEM discipline with a Master’s degree in business management. PhD is a plus. 

We would also like to remind you that this is a remote job, which means that you can work from anywhere in the world. However, we have a preference for a GMT to GMT +4 time zone.
