ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and proactive individual to join our team as a Learner Hub Coordinator Intern. This role is ideal for someone passionate about community engagement, learner support, and event coordination.

The Learner Hub Coordinator Intern will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the learner hub, fostering a strong sense of belonging and collaboration among learners, and enhancing both physical and virtual community engagement.

RESPONSIBILITES

Hub Operations & Learner Support

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the learner hub, ensuring it remains a well-organized, welcoming, and resourceful space.
  • Assist learners with hub facilities, answer queries, and provide guidance on available resources.
  • Maintain and manage the hub schedule, ensuring optimal use of space and alignment with learner needs.
  • Ensure learning materials, equipment, and community resources are readily available.
  • Gather feedback from learners to improve the hub experience and escalate major concerns to management.
  • Act as the first point of contact for learners and be prepared to handle emergencies or unexpected situations in the hub.

Community Engagement & Events

  • Support with the development and execution of learner engagement plans that increases participation and interaction in both physical and virtual spaces.
  • Support with the planning, coordination, and execution of community events, such as networking sessions, game nights, workshops, study groups, and mentorship meetups.
  • Identify and empower learner champions and ambassadors to encourage peer mentorship and collaboration.
  • Stay updated with learner needs and industry trends to ensure community engagement strategies remain effective and innovative.
  • Drive inclusive initiatives that ensure all learners feel represented and supported, including underrepresented groups.

Virtual Community Management

  • Foster a positive and inclusive virtual learning community via community and communication platforms.
  • Share relevant updates, learning resources, and announcements to keep learners engaged.
  • Moderate discussions to ensure conversations remain productive, professional, and free from spam or inappropriate content.
  • Provide virtual support to learners, guiding them on navigating their learning journey and connecting them to necessary resources.
  • Track community engagement metrics to assess online participation and develop strategies for improvement.

Communication & Feedback Collection

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote learner engagement across various channels..
  • Collaborate with the content team to create and promote high-quality content, including newsletters, blog posts, and event highlights.
  • Collect learner feedback through surveys, polls, and direct interactions to improve hub activities.
  • Ensure smooth communication between learners, coordinators, and ALX staff, acting as a bridge between different stakeholders.
  • Provide monthly reports on learner engagement, participation rates, and hub effectiveness.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, education, or a related field.
  • Ability to handle learner concerns professionally, de-escalate conflicts, and provide effective resolutions.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and think creatively about learner engagement strategies.
  • Strong interest in education, community building, and peer mentorship.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to oversee hub operations and event coordination.
  • Proficiency in virtual community management, including moderating discussions and sharing updates on communication platforms.

Preferable

  • Prior experience in student leadership, community engagement, event planning, or customer service.
  • Familiarity with WhatsApp, social media, online communities, and virtual collaboration tools.
  • Experience in planning and executing community events, networking sessions, or mentorship programs.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in learner engagement and community building.

Due to the considerable amount of virtual working and interaction with colleagues and customers in different physical locations internationally, it is essential that the successful applicant has the drive and ethic to succeed working in small teams physically but in larger efforts virtually. Self-drive to communicate constantly using web collaboration and video conferencing is essential. As an employee, you will be encouraged to continually develop your capability & attain certifications to reflect your growth as an individual.
