ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a senior strategic role accountable for all aspects of learner transitions from the ALX Pathway Foundations into partner universities and scholarship opportunities. The person in this role will be responsible for long-term visioning, team building, and tactical management of the learner transition process.
The three primary areas of accountability for the role are:
- Information: Ensuring learners have timely, accurate and visually appealing information on all opportunities and eligibility requirements available to them.
- Preparation: Coordinating with design and delivery teams to better prepare learners.
- Transition: Managing the process of learner document collection and direct application to university partners and scholarships. This also includes managing the university partner pipeline and serving as a primary point of contact with partners.
The person in this role needs to be able to work directly with the ALX Executive Committee, as well as coordinate several internal teams to drive toward a vision of diverse university opportunities, that they will help to craft.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Visioning
- Create long term roadmaps for the transition process that serve as a north star for the function.
- Regularly liaise with the Executive Committee to align transition objectives with organizational goals.
- Build a plan for the team needed to carry out strategic vision, and work with the Talent Acquisition team to identify and hire for those roles
Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead and maintain relationships between key stakeholders (Talent Readiness, Curriculum, Community Experience, Learner Records, Selection) during different stages of the student journey i.e. university exploration, application, scholarships.
- Align with stakeholders on key success metrics, establish robust data tracking systems, and create feedback loops from learners, partners, and trainers.
- Coordinate with City teams to identify and select Swaniker Scholars and Mastercard Foundation Scholars.
- Coordinate with the School of Entrepreneurship & Technology team to deliver the best possible experience for learners who transition to their program.
Coaching & Preparation
- Ensure resources for explaining admissions and financial aid application processes to students from a range of socio-economic and educational backgrounds through group sessions and 1:1 advising are available.
- Schedule, coordinate and publicize university counseling-related events and other opportunities for students to learn about higher education, prepare and distribute emails, flyers, and other materials to publicize programs.
- Collaboratively design resources to educate learners on post Pathway options
Operations & Administration
- Coordinate day-to-day operations and schedule activities, programs, and visitations by university representatives.
- Maintain a current inventory of university guidance equipment and materials; assist in determining purchase priorities.
- Ensure collaborative provision is well supported, with robust assurance of quality and standards.
- Monitor and manage project progress, proactively addressing risks and challenges to ensure timely delivery of team goals.
Data & Reporting
- Implement effective mechanisms for collecting and analyzing the feedback received to drive continuous improvement in program quality and effectiveness.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong project management skills, including setting timelines, milestones, and budgets to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Strong ability to engage varied stakeholders in pursuit of common objectives.
- Strong administrative skills including high attention to detail and comprehensive note-taking.
- High degree of comfort with numbers and an ability to interpret data to draw insightful and strategic conclusions.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, make informed decisions, and solve issues effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and leverage technology to optimize workflows and reduce manual tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to align program development strategies with broader business objectives.

Due to the considerable amount of virtual working and interaction with colleagues and customers in different physical locations internationally, it is essential that the successful applicant has the drive and ethic to succeed working in small teams physically but in larger efforts virtually. Self-drive to communicate constantly using web collaboration and video conferencing is essential.
