ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is part of the Learning R&D Team, which drives program innovation and research at ALX Africa. We design new programs, codify learning principles, and ensure consistent quality across our program portfolio at scale.
As a Curriculum Evaluation & Learning Standards Specialist, you will define and uphold the quality standards for all ALX programs. Your work ensures that curricula are coherent, learner-centered, scalable, and aligned with industry needs.
Your first major project will be to lead the development of the ALX Learning Framework, a consolidated “single source of truth” that articulates our learning principles, model, and processes. This framework will unify how programs are designed and maintained, enable faster innovation, and establish robust systems for feedback-driven improvement across the portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Evaluation & Standards
- Develop, apply, and refine curriculum evaluation rubrics that measure quality, scalability, and learner impact.
- Review new and existing programs to ensure alignment with ALX learning principles and global benchmarks.
- Build feedback loops into program design to capture learner insights.
- Maintain reporting systems on curriculum quality and learner outcomes.
Learning Framework Development
- Lead the development of the ALX Learning Framework (principles, model, processes, and playbooks).
- Codify best practices into templates and tools that ensure speed, quality, and consistency across design teams.
- Pilot the framework across a variety of use cases.
- Develop training and onboarding resources to enable learning design teams to apply the framework effectively.
Monitoring & Compliance
- Establish systems to monitor whether ALX learning standards and principles are consistently applied across programs.
- Conduct periodic reviews and audits of curriculum design projects to ensure compliance.
- Provide clear feedback and guidance to design teams where misalignment is identified.
- Develop accountability mechanisms (e.g., review checkpoints, sign-offs, dashboards) to embed compliance into the design workflow.
Continuous Improvement & Governance
- Maintain ALX’s institutional learning design principles, updating them as pedagogy and technology evolve.
- Establish governance processes for regularly reviewing and updating standards.
- Integrate learner outcomes and market feedback into ongoing refinement of programs and frameworks.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential
Experience
- Proven experience in curriculum evaluation, instructional design, quality assurance, or education research.
- Demonstrated ability to design and apply evaluation rubrics or frameworks.
- Experience in building or codifying institutional learning standards or models (preferred).
- Familiarity with technology-enabled and AI-supported learning (beneficial).
Skills
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative feedback.
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex standards into clear guidance.
- Proficiency in curriculum development tools and evaluation methodologies.
- Strong project management skills for framework development and implementation.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE
This role is a full-time position.
WORK HOURS
The required work hours are 40 hours per week.
Due to the considerable amount of virtual working and interaction with colleagues and customers in different physical locations internationally, it is essential that the successful applicant has the drive and ethic to succeed working in small teams physically but in larger efforts virtually. Self-drive to communicate constantly using web collaboration and video conferencing is essential. As an employee, you will be encouraged to continually develop your capability & attain certifications to reflect your growth as an individual.
