About the Role
The Marketing & Recruitment Associate will support the execution of marketing, communications, recruitment, and business development activities across ALX Learning and ALX Enterprise.
For ALX Learning, the role will support learner acquisition by generating and nurturing prospective learner leads, executing recruitment campaigns and activations, and supporting prospects through the application and enrolment journey.
For ALX Enterprise, the role will support the positioning of ALX as a workforce development partner by executing B2B marketing activities, identifying prospective organisations, supporting corporate outreach, coordinating thought leadership initiatives, and contributing to the development of a qualified enterprise pipeline.
Responsibilities
1. Marketing & Campaign Execution
- Own the execution of integrated marketing campaigns across ALX Learning and ALX Enterprise.
- Manage day-to-day campaign activities across social media, email, digital marketing, events, partnerships, community engagement, and other relevant channels.
- Develop and localise campaign messaging and creative assets for both learner and corporate audiences, ensuring alignment with ALX brand standards.
- Own content planning, scheduling, and publishing across relevant ALX social media platforms.
- Manage designers, agencies, freelancers, content creators, and other partners to ensure campaign assets are delivered according to agreed briefs, quality standards, and timelines.
- Identify relevant trends, conversations, events, and content opportunities that can strengthen ALX’s visibility and audience engagement.
- Drive the development of learner, alumni, employer, and corporate partner stories, testimonials, case studies, and other marketing content.
- Maintain and manage marketing calendars, ensuring all agreed campaign activities are delivered on time.
- Monitor campaign performance and recommend adjustments to improve reach, engagement, lead generation, and conversion.
2. ALX Learning – Student Recruitment
- Own the execution of ALX’s learner recruitment plan within the assigned market and deliver against agreed lead, application, Access Fee, and enrolment targets.
- Develop and execute learner acquisition activities across universities, colleges, youth organisations, community groups, events, partnerships, digital channels, referrals, and other relevant networks.
- Lead recruitment drives, campus activations, open days, webinars, information sessions, career fairs, and community engagements.
- Build and manage strong relationships with student leaders, universities, youth communities, alumni, recruitment partners, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure prospective learners receive accurate and compelling information about ALX programmes, application requirements, Access Fees, deadlines, and the learner experience.
- Manage prospects through the recruitment funnel and proactively resolve or escalate barriers affecting application and enrolment.
- Own learner referral and ambassador initiatives and identify opportunities to strengthen these channels.
- Monitor recurring applicant questions, concerns, and barriers and translate these insights into improvements in recruitment messaging and conversion activities.
- Ensure all leads generated through campaigns, partnerships, events, and activations are accurately captured and followed up within agreed timelines.
- Identify applicant drop-off points and implement interventions aimed at improving conversion.
- Maintain accurate learner recruitment records, trackers, and performance dashboards.
- Regularly assess performance against targets and take corrective action where recruitment numbers are off track.
3. ALX Enterprise – Corporate Marketing & Lead Generation
- Own the execution of marketing and lead generation activities that position ALX Enterprise as a strategic workforce development and capability-building partner.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective corporate clients, institutions, government organisations, development partners, and other relevant Enterprise prospects.
- Research and prioritise organisations based on their potential workforce, leadership, AI, digital transformation, and capability-building needs.
- Lead targeted outreach to corporate decision-makers across HR, Learning & Development, Talent, Innovation, Digital Transformation, and executive leadership.
- Develop and execute email, LinkedIn, event, and other outreach campaigns designed to generate awareness, conversations, and qualified Enterprise opportunities.
- Conduct prospect research ahead of outreach and develop personalised engagement approaches based on identified organisational needs.
- Own initial prospect engagement and move relevant organisations from first contact to qualified conversations.
- Work closely with the Marketing & Recruitment Manager and Enterprise team to transition qualified prospects into active commercial opportunities.
- Track outreach performance, response rates, meetings generated, and opportunities created, and continuously improve the approach based on results.
- Contribute directly towards agreed Enterprise pipeline and lead generation targets.
4. Data, CRM & Reporting
- Own the accuracy and completeness of marketing, recruitment, and Enterprise lead data within agreed trackers and CRM systems.
- Track learner performance across leads, applications, Access Fee completion, enrolment, and conversion rates.
- Track Enterprise performance across organisations identified, contacts engaged, responses, meetings generated, event attendance, qualified leads, and opportunities created.
- Prepare regular performance reports highlighting progress against targets, conversion rates, emerging trends, challenges, and recommended interventions.
- Use data to identify underperforming channels, applicant or prospect drop-off points, and opportunities to improve conversion.
- Maintain clear follow-up pipelines and ensure prospects and leads do not fall through gaps.
- Provide actionable insights to the Marketing & Recruitment Manager and relevant teams to inform campaign, recruitment, and commercial decisions.
5. General Coordination & Ownership
- Coordinate effectively across Marketing, Recruitment, Enterprise, Admissions, Operations, Community, and other relevant teams to deliver shared objectives.
- Own assigned workstreams within marketing, recruitment, and Enterprise initiatives from planning through execution and reporting.
- Participate actively in planning and performance reviews and contribute recommendations based on market insights and performance data.
- Maintain campaign, recruitment, communications, and event calendars and ensure key milestones are delivered on time.
- Drive follow-up on assigned activities and hold relevant stakeholders accountable for agreed deliverables and timelines.
- Identify and flag risks, delays, prospect concerns, and performance challenges early, while proposing practical solutions.
- Manage competing priorities effectively and ensure high-priority activities remain on track.
- Take initiative in identifying new recruitment, marketing, partnership, and lead-generation opportunities.
- Provide coordination and execution leadership across other priority ALX initiatives as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Sales, Public Relations, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience across marketing, recruitment, sales, business development, community engagement, or a related commercial/customer-facing role.
- Demonstrated experience independently executing marketing or recruitment campaigns from planning through implementation and reporting.
- Strong experience in lead generation and conversion, with a clear understanding of funnels, follow-up, drop-off points, and performance improvement.
- Experience working towards measurable targets such as applications, enrolments, leads, meetings, pipeline, or revenue-related objectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for both young learner audiences and senior corporate stakeholders.
- Experience building and managing relationships with universities, youth organisations, community partners, employers, corporate organisations, or other external stakeholders.
- Good understanding of B2B outreach and prospecting, including researching organisations, identifying relevant decision-makers, and conducting personalised outreach through channels such as email and LinkedIn.
- Experience planning and executing events, activations, webinars, recruitment drives, or other audience engagement initiatives.
- Strong data and analytical skills, with experience maintaining trackers or CRM systems, monitoring conversion rates, and using performance data to make decisions.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple campaigns, stakeholders, deadlines, and follow-ups.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership, identify problems early, propose solutions, and deliver with limited supervision.
- Comfortable using Google Workspace, spreadsheets, CRM tools, LinkedIn, social media platforms, and digital marketing tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate campaign, recruitment, and pipeline data.
- Genuine interest in education, youth employment, workforce development, technology, AI, and skills development in Africa.
Preferred
- Experience in learner or student recruitment, especially within universities, education, edtech, or youth-focused organisations.
- Experience in B2B marketing, corporate lead generation, or business development.
- Experience managing paid or organic digital marketing campaigns.
- Experience developing or coordinating content, testimonials, case studies, or social media campaigns.
- Experience working with CRM or marketing automation platforms.
- Existing networks across universities, youth organisations, employers, HR/L&D leaders, or corporate institutions would be an advantage.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment across multiple workstreams.
This is a full-time role and requires the successful candidate to be based in Kigali, Rwanda.
