We are hiring a Lead Mental Health Therapist to join us onsite in our San Mateo, CA clinic as part of an interdisciplinary team committed to providing personalized, compassionate and high-quality SMI care.
The opportunity:
As a Mental Health Therapist at Amae you will play an integral role in our collective mission to become the center of excellence for SMI care. In alignment with Amae’s holistic wrap-around care model, you will support associate therapist team members in a supervisory capacity in addition to managing a panel of our complex members through individual and group therapy sessions, in addition to providing psychoeducation and support to patients' families. Working within a collaborative and shared decision making model, you will have the opportunity to partner with clinical staff, peer specialists, primary care providers and community partners. A patient advocate, you will help members navigate the health and social services systems in {{clinic location}}, connecting patients to resources and the community. Rooted in trust and rapport, you will initiate, establish and maintain relationships not only with patients, but also with families, as you care for members of Amae Health.

What you will work on:
- Provide individual and group therapy to a panel of complex SMI patients
- Supervise and mentor clinical teams including pre-licensed therapists, licensed therapists, and dieticians with clinical care delivery, documentation and patient related issues
- Work in close collaboration with Practice Manager to support a healthy care team environment and deliver exceptional care via the Amae Health care model
- Provide continuous, regular support as patients navigate recovery, both in person and on occasion, virtually
- Conduct training during the onboarding process for new therapist staff and continually, as needed
- Deliver evidence-based care in a holistic, wrap-around care model
- Collaborate with patient care teams and with behavioral health providers to ensure an integrated, cohesive approach to care
- Address medical needs to mitigate negative impacts of various social determinants of health
- Provide consultation to therapists on the treatment team, which may include licensed therapists as well as trainees, as well as assisting with program development.
What you’ll have:
- Active Licensed Psychologist, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT or LPC license in the state of California
- Minimum of 1 year experience providing clinical supervision
- Thrives in a collaborative team environment and establishes positive relationships with other medical professionals
- Experience and interest in working with adults and at least 1 year of experience working with patients with severe mental illness
- Experience in evidence-based interventions, including CBT, DBT, or MI.
- Ability to navigate challenging situations with professionalism.
- Thorough understanding of confidentiality and appropriate documentation standards
- Technologically savvy, with the ability to learn and navigate new tools and technologies
- Highly organized with the ability to work autonomously
- Possess strong listening skills and excellent verbal communication capabilities
