Position Summary
The primary responsibility of a tutor is to support students to become more independent learners, persist in school and reach their goals. Tutors provide individual and/or group tutoring to students across a broad range of programs based on their personal area of expertise.
Please note: This is a part-time role for 20 hours per week. Typical schedule is M-F 10AM-2PM.
Salary Range:
- $18 - $20 hourly
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide academic assistance to assigned students, either in a group or individually.
- Establish liaison with the teacher and work under the teacher's direction, if necessary to assist the student.
- Be responsible for maintaining records on each student who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessment.
- Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
- Help students develop self-confidence, raise self-concept, and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work.
- Help students develop a high level of motivation in academic areas.
- Assist students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas.
- Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.
- Serve as a role model for students being served.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the teacher or Principal.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 6 months experience teaching, tutoring and/or interaction with children of varied ages
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must have strong math and reading aptitude
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Ability to work 4 hours daily Monday- Friday (will be decided by School Leadership prior to start date)
- Must pass fingerprinting and reference check process
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- 2 years of experience teaching, interacting and working with children of varied ages
- Bachelor’s degree or have equivalent experience
- Supervising youth and representing positive role modeling through all interactions with program participants
- Knowledge of child development
- Supports the lead teacher to promote student learning
- Skill in classroom management and developing lesson plans
- Flexible to the needs of the classroom environment
- Motivated self-starter.
- Keeping confidence, loyalties and practicing professionalism.

Starting hourly rate is based on relevant work experience.
