Senior Supply Chain Engineer
Amca is building America’s new industrial base. Since the 1990s, our ability to build new aviation and military systems and maintain the ones we already have has eroded. Today, the gap between what the nation needs to produce and what it is capable of producing is the largest it has been in generations.
To help close that gap, Amca rapidly develops and manufactures new critical components and subsystems required to build and sustain the planes, military vehicles, and core infrastructure America needs. Today, we operate seven factories nationwide, including our advanced prototyping and testing headquarters in El Segundo, and deliver avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for platforms such as the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, A320neo, A321, Mk-48, and M1 Abrams.
Overview
The Senior Supply Chain Engineer is the technical backbone of our growth and bid process. You will own bill of materials (BOM) costing, run comparative analysis across suppliers and build approaches, and serve as the technical point of contact for post-award execution. You will read engineering drawings, interpret requirements, build out BOMs, and produce CAD as needed to support sourcing and cost decisions. You do not need to be a design engineer. What matters is that you can take a set of drawings and requirements, understand what it takes to source and build the hardware, and translate that into accurate cost and a sound technical recommendation.
Responsibilities
- Own BOM development and costing for incoming opportunities.
- Break down drawings and requirements into a complete, accurate BOM.
- Build and refine should-cost models and pricing inputs to support competitive, margin-accurate bids.
- Run comparative analysis across suppliers, materials, processes, and build approaches to identify the lowest-risk, lowest-cost path to source and build.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for post-award execution, supporting sourcing decisions, engineering change evaluations, and supplier quality resolution.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and military and aerospace specifications to assess sourcing options and fit with Amca factory and supplier capabilities.
- Produce CAD as needed to support costing, feasibility, and technical analysis.
- Make go/no-go recommendations based on supply chain feasibility, capacity, risk, and strategic fit.
- Collaborate with factory engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to validate sourcing strategies, lead times, and supplier requirements before bid submission.
- Act as the technical bridge between business operations and Amca's factory engineering, production, and sourcing teams.
- Build and maintain a working knowledge map of Amca factory and supplier capabilities, including equipment, certifications, materials expertise, and capacity constraints.
- Identify supply chain gaps and recommend supplier partnerships or capital investments to close them.
- Stay current on relevant industry standards (AS9100, NADCAP, MIL-SPEC), manufacturing technology, and DLA procurement policy.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years in a full-time technical engineering or supply chain role in aerospace, defense, or a similar hardware industry. Supply chain engineering and manufacturing engineering backgrounds are welcome; design engineering is not required.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and military and aerospace specifications.
- Ability to build accurate BOMs from drawings and requirements.
- Strong understanding of common manufacturing processes including CNC machining, casting, forging, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and surface treatments.
- Working proficiency in CAD.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of increasing responsibility in supply chain, manufacturing, or technical roles.
- Experience developing cost estimates, should-cost models, or bid pricing for manufactured components or assemblies.
- Prior experience with government or aviation supply chain programs.
- Familiarity with federal procurement processes, technical data packages, and their associated workflows.
- Experience working across multiple manufacturing sites or factories in a multi-entity organization.
