Job Title: Associate Director of Client Services , Grants Management

Status: Full-time, exempt 

Location: Position is based in A.M. Crawford’s San Francisco or Gainesville office. At least 4 days in office and up to 1 day remote for the first 3 months; at least 3 days in office and up to 2 days remote thereafter. On occasion, you may be required to work additional days in office or remotely from other locations as needed.

Schedule: 40 hours/week flexible schedule, but generally during normal business hours. Schedule may shift according to client and team needs and current projects, with occasional evenings and weekends. 

Pay rate: $90,100; in keeping with A.M. Crawford’s Pay Equity Policy, the salary for this position is non-negotiable.

Position summary: AMC is currently seeking a qualified candidate to lead our grants management client services team. Preferred qualifications include experience with post-award management for government grants (state and federal); a high proficiency in working with numbers and spreadsheets, knowledge of Universal Grant Guidance, and bookkeeping and compliance experience. Associate Directors (AD) at AMC lead consulting services teams and oversee a portfolio of clients and work orders. ADs provide management and leadership to team members, both employees and contractors, and lead initiatives to develop new service areas. The AD is evaluated based on how they carry out these responsibilities; the profitability of their client portfolio; their KPIs and those of their teams; and the degree to which their teams and clients reach success metrics defined in work orders (for clients) and goal setting worksheets (for team members). Typically, Associate Directors have 5+ years of experience working in a junior leadership role in a nonprofit fundraising or grant management setting. Associate Directors overseeing grant management often also have experience or formal education in business, finance, and/or compliance. 

 

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of grant management services, ensuring client contract deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and budget. Provide expert counsel to clients to ensure that all pre- and post-award grant activities comply with grantor standards and regulations.

 

  • As the lead consultant for some of AMC’s more prominent clients, manage the work order for these projects and oversee all contract budgets, objectives, and deliverables. Oversee quality control, ensuring that the work produced meets AMC’s and our clients’ standards of excellence.

 

  • Responsible for activities and team coordination (project coordinators, writers, and  management), leading to contract completion; monitor progress toward all contract deliverables; manage workflow for team members, and keep clients informed on overall contract/project progress. 

 

  • In a supervisory role for 1-4 consultants who each have their own client loads, lead the team that provides grant management, grant writing, fundraising, and/or nonprofit management services. Responsible for the overall profitability of the team’s portfolio.

 

  • Provide support for 1-4 direct reports to help them meet their KPIs and maximize their portfolio's profitability while meeting or exceeding clients’ expectations and grants management and/or fundraising goals. Provide coaching, training and mentorship to help the team grow and succeed. Engage team members in the annual, company-wide goal setting and performance evaluation process.

 

  • Prepare reports for senior management, and refine processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

 

  • Actively uphold and enforce AMC policies and procedures, ensuring that team activities align with internal guidelines. Lead by example to promote a culture of integrity aligned with AMC’s corporate tenets. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of policies and recommend improvements to promote efficiency in the company’s operational practices.

 

  • Expand relationships with existing clients by identifying opportunities for additional projects and services.

 

  • Collaborate with senior management and other team members to develop and implement service offerings.

 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients, nonprofit leaders and fundraisers, potential employees and contractors, and referral sources. Participate in business development activities, presentations, and networking events. Meet with potential clients and work with AMC leadership to develop new business proposals, bringing in other team members as needed during the contracting process.

 

  • Be active in the nonprofit community and an ambassador for AMC in the grants management community, via membership of and participation in the National Grants Management Association and others. Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and new funding opportunities. 

 

  • Other duties as determined by supervisor.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time, exempt position has an annual salary of $90,100. This amount is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to analyzing comparable jobs and salaries at similar-sized firms. In keeping with AMC’s Pay Equity Policy, the salary for this position is non-negotiable. Other benefits include:

  • Paid, Unlimited Vacation Time (UVT): After the completion of a 90-day introductory onboarding period. AMC’s UVT policy gives you the flexibility to take as much vacation time off as is reasonable as long as it does not interfere with your work responsibilities, performance metrics, work completion, and the quality of your work. AMC employees are accountable for ensuring that they balance their UVT with performance expectations.
  • Paid Holidays in keeping with the City/County of San Francisco’s Holidays  
  • December Holiday break: Paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
  • Paid Sick Time: 1 hour earned per 30 hours worked starting on the first day of employment. You can begin utilizing earned sick time 60 calendar days after you begin working.Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA): On the first of the month 30 calendar days after your first day of employment, you are eligible to participate in AMC’s ICHRA benefit and receive a $500 monthly AMC employer contribution. You will also have the ability to set aside additional pre-tax salary funds to pay for medical health insurance premiums. Elective Dependent Care FSA: On the first of the month 30 calendar days after your first day of employment, you are eligible to elect to participate in this benefit and to set aside pre-tax funds to pay for child or elderly care costs.
  • Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA): On the first of the month 30 calendar days after your first day of employment, you are eligible to participate in AMC’s ICHRA benefit and receive a $500 monthly AMC employer contribution.   • Transportation FSA: On the first of the month 30 calendar days after their first day of employment, SF staff (Not GNV staff) are eligible to participate in AMC’s Transportation FSA. AMC will contribute up to $100 every month to each employee’s FSA account and employees have the option to contribute additional pre-tax funds via their weekly earnings to pay for work related public transit costs. AMC’s contribution is based on the number of days per week that each employee commutes to AMC’s San Francisco office and the costs associated with that commute on BART and/or MUNI.
  • Home Office Budget - AMC will reimburse employees with a hybrid work schedule for home internet usage and office supplies, up to $400 annually.
  • 401K Retirement: All full and part-time employees are automatically enrolled in AMC’s 401(k) plan after six months of employment. AMC will contribute 100% of your elective deferral contributions up to 1% of compensation plus 50% of your elective deferral contributions over 1% up to 6% of compensation.
  • Matching Gifts Program - AMC offers a corporate Matching Gift Program to full and part-time employees, which makes donations to charitable organizations that employees personally support. AMC matches - dollar for dollar up to $150 per year - donations made by employees, to nonprofit organizations and/or educational institutions. Matching gift requests must be made in the same year that you donated.
  • New Business Bonus: You will be eligible to earn a bonus of 10% of the initial contract amount on any new client that you introduce to AMC, paid quarterly during the initial year or project period. New business bonus payments are capped at $5,000 per client. New clients are defined as those who are not already in our business development pipeline, who have not discussed our services with us or have not yet received a proposal.
  • Performance Bonus: Staff members who are satisfactorily meeting or exceeding their profitability metrics will receive a $2,000 bonus; 50% paid in August based on January - June performance; 50% paid out in January based on July - December performance. 
  • Professional Development (Association Memberships, Books, and Webinars): $500 per year or more upon approval; note: professional development funds above $500 must be discussed in advance and approved by a supervisor. In addition, all books purchased with professional development funds must remain in AMC’s office library for collective reference.
