
Managing Instructor, Massage Therapy

Purpose of the Position:
A Managing Instructor cultivates the school’s mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance, and review to ensure the successful academic program and personal development of each student. In addition, the Managing Instructor supports the efforts of the Program Director or Regional Program Director in making recommendations in the areas of planning, staffing, scheduling, supervising, curriculum improvement and professional development for his/her department. If the program has a clinical/externship component it is the responsibility of the Managing Instructor to support the Program Director or Regional Program Director in establishing and assessing clinical/externship sites to meet the needs of the student population and monitor and maintain the student experience and records throughout this portion of the program.
What you’ll do:
- Staff Management and Recruitment: Determine departmental staff needs, conduct interviews, provide hiring recommendations, and orient new faculty members.
- Faculty Training and Evaluation: Train new faculty in program techniques, evaluate performance, and complete competency assessments.
- Course Instruction and Development: Manage and conduct course instruction, create and revise lesson plans, and provide input on course development.
- Student Support and Advising: Foster academic growth, provide extra help to students, advise on minor issues, and refer major problems to the Director of Education.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress, and report to the Director of Education on student performance trends.
- Resource Management: Oversee the planning, use, maintenance, and inventory of departmental facilities and materials.
- Program and Curriculum Enhancement: Assist in scheduling teaching assignments, maintain current syllabi, and enhance curriculum materials.
- Clinical/Externship Coordination: Assist in clinical site procurement, monitor student records during clinical/externship, and ensure completion of necessary competencies.
- Administrative and Advisory Roles: Participate in faculty meetings, school advisory board, graduation ceremonies, and assist in retention programs.
- Professional Development and Compliance: Continue professional growth through training and ensure timely grading and record submission.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:
- High school diploma/GED
- Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT)
- 3 years of verifiable experience as a massage therapist
- Skills and abilities – communication and presentation skills, organization, people-orientation, time management, and high energy.
- Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
- Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.
Preferred Requirements:
- Prior teaching and/or management experience.
- Experience applying adult learning principles and practices to blended learning.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Other skills and abilities - ability to inspire students to meet career goals by tying course curriculum to potential career outcomes; familiarity with learning management systems, student information systems, and synchronous instructional tools.
Compliance:
- Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follow all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- This is a campus position; in-person instruction, office hours, laboratory work, and preparation time are required.
- Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
- May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.
Compensation Range
$55,000 - $60,000 USD
