Internship – Risk Management & Insurance
American National Insurance Company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Galveston, TX, with several locations across the US: League City, TX, Houston, TX, Springfield, MO, and Glenmont, NY. Our Internship Program is designed to provide young professionals with corporate experience that is not offered in the classroom. In addition to supporting their respective department, each intern will have the opportunity to attend professional development sessions, volunteer within the community, and attend company sponsored social events.
Our 2025 summer internship program begins on Monday, June 2 and ends on Friday, August 8. Intern positions are paid hourly with a full-time schedule (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week) for the entirety of the program.
Internship Program Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited institution
• Must hold a Junior standing or higher (May 2025 grads are welcome)
• Must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA
• Must be able to commit 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday
• Must be able to work onsite in the posted location of the role
Team Description:
The Portfolio Underwriting team provides support to the Underwriting division through data-driven analyses. Members of the team work in cross-functional teams to review and analyze trends, and segments of data. These analyses help the Underwriting teams make informed decisions to improve profitability.
What we’re looking for:
• Pursuing a degree in business, finance, insurance, or other relative business area
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organization skills & attention to detail w/ high level accuracy
• Must be able to meet deadlines and balance changing priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
What you can expect to do in the role:
• Review and analyze data from Property and Casualty lines of business and other applicable segments
• Participate in Market Analysis and assist in the development of underwriting guideline/process changes
• Work with underwriting leadership on key initiatives with high visibility
• Work independently and with other interns to report key findings to the portfolio team
