Head of Quality Engineering

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

As a Head of Quality Engineering, Software Quality, you will be responsible for all quality functions, over multiple platforms and market-leading SaaS products.  Your day will involve leading a dynamic team of quality managers and engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving the implementation of a scalable, high-quality assurance program for Amount. You'll be hands-on in implementing strategic initiatives including but not limited to test plan creation, test automation, performance testing and improvements to the SDLC to continuously enhance software quality. Your focus will be on enhancing the overall quality of our platform, designed for account origination and decisioning, helping lenders drive profitability, deploying in weeks, and scaling in months. Strong business acumen will be essential as you ensure our products function as intended and deliver an exceptional user experience.

Base Salary: $185,000 - $208,000

WHAT WE’LL TRUST YOU TO DELIVER:

  • Provide strategic leadership in quality management, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Create and execute a scalable SaaS-driven quality assurance strategy that aligns with business goals and product requirements, focusing on automation, product functionality and user experience.
  • Implement and optimize automated quality assurance processes for efficient and effective delivery of consumer and small business products.
  • Integrate quality processes into CI/CD pipelines for seamless testing automation and efficient software release.
  • Collaborate with product management, and operations for integrated automated quality assurance on products like personal loans, credit cards, and fraud models across both consumer and small business lending.
  • Work closely with development to ensure a collaborative handoff from code development to QA.
  • Set and track quality assurance metrics to drive visibility into performance, accountability and investments needed to improve trends.
  • Evaluate and manage third-party partners to help enhance and optimize our ability to execute with speed and accuracy as it pertains to Quality assurance.
  • Capacity planning across platforms and ensuring QA efforts remain on budget from a timeline and personnel rate.
  • Design and implement automated testing frameworks to boost efficiency and test coverage for SaaS solutions.
  • Manage defect tracking to promptly identify and resolve issues with cross-functional team support.
  • Plan and conduct performance testing, optimize software for scalability and responsiveness, and stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to product quality, addressing the specific challenges of our fintech SaaS platform.

WHAT YOU LIKELY BRING TO THE TABLE: 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of SaaS and fintech, especially in account origination and decisioning, aligning quality engineering with market and client needs.
  • Expertise in software development, testing methodologies, and test automation tools, leveraging emerging technologies for efficiency and client delivery.
  • Proven team leadership, fostering accountability and commitment to deliver results, ensuring team members meet their promises.
  • Strong understanding of product functionality and user experience, aligning quality efforts with business goals.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leading effective discussions and decisions.
  • Skilled in iterative problem-solving, rapidly trying, failing, and succeeding to enhance quality practices.
  • Experienced in budgeting and resource management, optimizing costs and preparing budget proposals.
  • Adaptable in a fast-paced startup environment, working with urgency to meet changing priorities.
