Quality Engineering Technician

Role Summary
We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, team-oriented Quality Engineering Technician to be responsible for creating and executing inspection methodologies for electro-mechanical components, subassemblies and testers for Amperesand’s solid state transformers. In this role, you identify and address suspect or nonconforming parts, support engineering with process validation and containment activities, perform experiments, collect and analyze data to determine corrective and preventive actions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the completion of quality trials working with engineers and other technicians to support new line validations.
- Drive the creation and maintenance of Quality Instruction documents.
- Serve as the on-shift subject matter expert to support production regarding product specifications and criteria that define quality of the product.
- Assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing quality issues, contain parts or products as needed, sort parts for quality requirements.
- Support root cause issues, best practices, and implementation of corrective actions and countermeasures.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities with engineers and external suppliers.
- Analyze and interpret failure and product data independently, effectively escalating and supporting resolution of defects.
Qualifications
- High school diploma. Skilled trades training or degree in electronic, mechanical, quality or equivalent demonstrated on-job experience.
- Experience with quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experienced in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA tasks.
- Knowledge basic statistics, lean manufacturing practices, engineering knowledge of GD&T, electronic test, and measurement systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate common issues and defects to leadership and assist with solutions.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment providing production line leadership and guidance.
- Ability to use IT systems such as Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint. Able to manipulate data in Excel and databases such as SQL.
- Experience with test and metrology equipment such as multimeters, calipers, oscilloscopes, microscopes, etc.
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain.
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs.
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts.
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day.
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing.
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, arm protection, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines.
Please note: This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options.
