Production Operations Supervisor
Company Overview
Amperesand is reinventing how the world powers its most critical systems.
We are facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for infrastructure disruption. Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources – including solar, gas, and batteries – at a massive scale.
And yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn’t meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today’s infrastructure equipment can’t match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.
We’ve built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that’s now ready for commercial deployment.
Our products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow’s most demanding energy consumers.
Scalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.
Amperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.
With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.
Join us in building the power foundation of the future!
Role Summary
As our Production Operations Supervisor, you will lead the day-to-day execution of prototype-to-production builds, directly supervising the production associate team on the floor. This is a highly hands-on role—you’ll assign work, unblock issues in real time, ensure production schedules and quality standards are met, and track and approve timecards and labor hours. You’ll coordinate and deliver on-the-job training as needed, helping associates develop the skills required to build complex solid-state power hardware safely, consistently, and efficiently. Your leadership will directly influence product readiness, customer confidence, and the pace at which our solid-state transformer technology moves from development into real-world deployment.
Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise production associates supporting prototype-to-production builds, managing daily work assignments, floor coverage, and execution against production schedules.
- Own day-to-day floor operations, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met while escalating issues and risks in real time.
- Track, review, and approve timecards, labor hours, and overtime, supporting labor efficiency and production planning.
- Ensure quality standards are upheld at every building step, supporting a no-defects-forward mindset and partnering with engineering on issue resolution and corrective actions.
- Coordinate, deliver, and document on-the-job training for new and existing production associates, ensuring readiness for complex manufacturing and power electronics assembly.
- Support the development, maintain, and enforce standardized work instructions and SOPs in collaboration with engineering and operations.
- Monitor daily production metrics and drive continuous improvement in throughput, yield, safety, and cost.
- Develop and maintain production reports, dashboards, and visual management boards that provide clear visibility to leadership on progress toward production goals, risks, and corrective actions.
- Create a positive, accountable shop-floor culture through coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action, including addressing performance concerns and administering discipline when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with EHS requirements, proactively identifying and correcting hazards and reinforcing safe work practices.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in manufacturing or production operations, with at least 2 years in a hands-on supervisory or lead role supporting production associates.
- Proven experience leading day-to-day floor operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including work assignment and schedule execution.
- Experience managing labor and timekeeping, including tracking and approving timecards, overtime, and shift coverage.
- Practical experience applying quality requirements, standardized processes, and structured problem-solving on production floor.
- Experience coordinating and delivering on-the-job training and coaching production teams through changing processes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear direction, real-time feedback, and corrective action when required.
- Ability to track production performance and maintain reports, dashboards, or visual management boards to communicate progress toward production goals.
- Commitment to safety and EHS best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience in manufacturing environments such as power electronics, energy systems, automotive, or industrial equipment.
- Prior involvement in pilot production or new product introduction (NPI) builds.
- Experience partnering closely with engineering teams to improve manufacturability and production readiness.
- Experience developing or maintaining standardized work instructions, SOPs, or training documentation.
- Able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Forklift certified
Please note: This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options.
