Role Description
The Cloud Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and evolving the organization’s cloud architecture across infrastructure, security, networking, and platform services. This role ensures that cloud environments are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned to business growth objectives. The Cloud Architect acts as the technical authority for AWS architecture standards, landing zones, workload design, and modernization initiatives. The role bridges engineering execution and enterprise governance, ensuring that architecture decisions reduce operational risk, control cost, and enable product velocity. This position partners closely with Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, and Application teams to translate business requirements into resilient cloud solutions. The role requires strong design discipline, hands-on depth, and the ability to influence without direct authority.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and maintain enterprise cloud architecture standards, reference patterns, and guardrails
- Design secure AWS landing zones aligned to security and compliance frameworks
- Lead architecture design reviews for new applications and cloud migrations
- Establish infrastructure as code standards using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Drive cloud cost optimization strategies and FinOps alignment
- Architect high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
- Ensure integration of cloud security controls including IAM, encryption, logging, and monitoring
- Provide technical leadership during cloud transformation and modernization programs
- Evaluate and recommend new AWS services and third-party tooling
- Collaborate with Security and Risk teams to ensure alignment with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST CSF controls
- Support incident response and root cause analysis for cloud related events
- Mentor engineers and contribute to capability uplift within the India team
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- 8 to 12 years of experience in infrastructure and cloud engineering
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on AWS architecture experience
- Deep expertise in AWS core services including EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, EKS, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail
- Both architecture depth and hands on delivery experience are required
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform and Terragrunt
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, security architecture, and zero trust principles
- Experience designing for high availability and disaster recovery in production environments
- Working knowledge of compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization capabilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification preferred
