Role Description
 
Amtech is seeking an Associate QA Engineer to join its Quality Engineering team. This entry-level role is designed for an individual who is passionate about software quality and interested in developing strong capabilities across manual testing, test automation, Agile delivery, and AI-assisted testing.
The Associate QA Engineer will work closely with experienced Quality Engineers, developers, product owners, and business analysts to validate well-defined product features, execute manual and automated tests, document results, and report software defects. The role provides hands-on exposure to Playwright automation, API and database testing, Scrum practices, and modern AI-enabled testing techniques.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review assigned user stories, acceptance criteria, product requirements, and designs to understand expected system behavior.
  • Create, update, and execute manual test cases for functional, regression, smoke, integration, usability, and exploratory testing.
  • Prepare test data and maintain clear test evidence for completed testing activities.
  • Identify, document, and track defects with accurate reproduction steps, expected and actual results, screenshots, logs, and supporting evidence.
  • Retest resolved defects and support regression and release-readiness testing.
  • Develop and maintain basic automated tests using Playwright under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Learn and apply JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals for test automation.
  • Perform basic API validation using tools such as Postman and database validation using SQL.
  • Participate in Agile and Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Communicate progress, testing risks, blockers, and defects clearly and promptly.
  • Use approved AI-assisted testing tools for test-case ideas, test-data generation, exploratory-testing support, and defect summarization.
  • Review and validate all AI-generated outputs before incorporating them into testing activities.
  • Follow established quality, coding, security, data-protection, documentation, and automation standards.
  • Seek feedback, raise questions early, and demonstrate increasing ownership of assigned tasks.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically, 0–2 year of software testing experience, including internships or academic projects.
  • Basic understanding of software testing principles, SDLC, STLC, defect lifecycle, and test-design techniques.
  • Foundational understanding and  knowledge of manual, functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing.
  • Basic understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, or a similar work-management and defect-tracking platform.
  • Introductory knowledge of Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or another UI automation framework.
  • Basic programming knowledge, preferably in JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, communication, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respond constructively to feedback.
  • Familiarity with API testing, SQL, Git, and CI/CD concepts is preferred.
  • Basic exposure to generative AI or AI-assisted software testing tools , certification in testing or AI (preferred)
