Brief Overview

The Senior Manager, QA Engineering is a Quality Engineering leader responsible for developing people, advancing engineering quality practices, and driving scalable quality capabilities across the organization. This leader owns the strategy, roadmap, and outcomes of the QA Tools practice, including automation frameworks, CI/CD quality enablement, and quality insights, while leading and developing Quality Engineers supporting product teams.

Through strong technical leadership, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional partnership, this role helps build shared ownership of quality and enables teams to deliver reliable, high-quality experiences for our customers.

You are a strategic, proactive leader who creates clarity from ambiguity and takes ownership of outcomes. You understand technology deeply enough to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, and guide experienced engineers without needing to be the person writing the code.

You build strong relationships and know how to garner buy-in without requiring consensus. You communicate the “why,” listen to different perspectives, make thoughtful trade-offs, and move teams toward clear decisions.

You are pragmatic and adaptable. You favor simple, scalable, and standardized solutions over unnecessary complexity while recognizing where innovation, including AI, can meaningfully improve how teams work.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Quality Engineers, building an empowered and accountable team through clear expectations, feedback, recognition, career development, and performance management.
  • Own the QA Tools strategy, roadmap, and priorities in alignment with broader Quality Engineering and Engineering goals.
  • Drive the technical direction of Quality Engineering capabilities, including scalable automation frameworks, CI/CD quality practices, and quality gates...
  • Provide technical leadership across automation, CI/CD, and AI-enabled engineering by setting direction, evaluating approaches, challenging assumptions, and guiding experienced technical engineers without being the primary hands-on implementer.
  • Evolve quality metrics and reporting to provide actionable insights, connect quality practices to key outcomes, identify risk, and enable data-driven decisions.
  • Build trusted relationships across Engineering, Product, and QA leadership; engage stakeholders early, communicate the “why,” and build buy-in for quality practices and organizational change.
  • Partner with QA leadership to define and evolve Quality Engineering standards, driving adoption and measurable outcomes across Engineering teams.
  • Develop a strong working understanding of the product, customer workflows, and team ownership to effectively lead team members, identify quality risks, and reinforce shared ownership of quality.
  • Translate organizational direction into clear priorities and trade-offs, independently managing execution, risks, dependencies, and change while favoring pragmatic, scalable solutions and adapting as needs evolve.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading, developing, and empowering Quality Engineering or software engineering teams, including experienced technical contributors.
  • Strong foundation in modern Quality Engineering, including test automation best practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated quality gates, and scalable testing approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex, cross-team initiatives from strategy through adoption and measurable outcomes.
  • Strategic and data-driven problem solver who can establish priorities, navigate ambiguity, evaluate outcomes, and adapt direction when needed.
  • Strong communicator and influencer who builds trusted relationships, explains complex concepts clearly, and creates buy-in across teams and levels.
  • Experience in healthcare technology or another regulated software environment is a plus.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
