The Opportunity

Amylyx Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Senior Director, New Product Planning to provide strategic leadership across new product planning, pipeline commercialization strategy, and long-range growth opportunities for Amylyx. The Senior Director will partner closely across Program Leadership, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Clinical Development, Business Development, Market Access, and other cross-functional teams to assess market opportunities, define differentiated product strategies, and inform enterprise investment decisions from early development through lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Commercial new product planning strategy for Amylyx pipeline assets and support lifecycle management planning for marketed products, ensuring alignment with broader portfolio strategy. 
  • Lead insight generation and market analysis, including landscape assessments, unmet need evaluation, stakeholder research, competitive intelligence, opportunity sizing, and scenario planning. 
  • Develop commercial strategy recommendations that inform development plans, target product profiles, indication sequencing, investment decisions, and long-range business planning. 
  • Serve as an active member of program teams generally for programs in Ph 1 and 2 and prepare for seamless asset hand-off to brand leadership generally during Phase 3. 
  • Partner with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Market Access to ensure commercial perspectives are integrated into evidence-generation plans, development milestones, regulatory strategy, and access considerations. 
  • Define priority markets, customer segments, patient populations, stakeholder needs, value drivers, and potential positioning to support differentiated asset strategies. 
  • Collaborate across Amylyx to support potential Business Development for external opportunity assessments, due diligence, and strategic fit evaluations as needed. 
  • Build new product planning capabilities, processes, and ways of working that enable consistent, rigorous, and collaborative commercial input across Amylyx’s portfolio. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field required; advanced degree such as an MBA, MPH, or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare marketing experience with demonstrated success in brand management and commercial launch strategy.
  • Demonstrated brand leadership resulting in successful product launches in biotechnology or specialty pharmaceuticals.
  • Demonstrated success developing integrated healthcare provider, patient, caregiver, and disease awareness marketing strategies.
  • Experience managing significant commercial budgets and external agency partnerships.
  • Experience leading and working cross-functional commercial teams and influencing executive leadership on enterprise-wide strategic decisions. Demonstrated contributions as a member of program and lifecycle teams, integrated evidence generation planning group, pricing committees, and other strategic cross-functional bodies.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, leadership, problem-solving, executive communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced, evolving commercial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Rare disease, endocrinology, metabolic disease, neurology, or specialty pharmaceutical experience preferred. 
  • Experience in a growing biotechnology organization, strategic consulting environment, or cross-functional portfolio planning role preferred

Work Location and Conditions

  • At Amylyx, we proudly support remote work opportunities within the United States. However, due to business considerations related to health insurance coverage and state tax regulations, we are unable to hire employees who reside and/or work in certain states. Currently, we are not considering applicants from Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Michigan and Tennessee.
  • You will be expected to travel to our corporate location in Cambridge, MA several times a year and attend other company-related events as necessary and requested.
  • You must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at your remote location.

Compensation

The pay range posted below represents our good faith estimate of compensation for this role, based on market data and internal benchmarks. The final offer may vary depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as considerations of internal equity.

$260,000 - $292,000 USD
