Amylyx has assembled an experienced team ready to take action because the communities we serve have no time to wait. If you share our passion and are determined to tackle some of medicine’s toughest problems, we encourage you to read the opportunity below and apply.

The Opportunity

The Associate Director, Commercial Training and Development will play a central role in building the capabilities of Amylyx customer-facing teams as the organization prepares for potential launches and future growth.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Commercial Training and Development, this individual will lead the design, development, coordination, and delivery of onboarding, disease-state, product, customer engagement, business acumen, and advanced skills training. The role will work closely with Sales Leadership, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Human Resources, Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance to translate commercial strategy and complex scientific information into practical learning experiences.

This is a hands-on role for a training leader who is comfortable moving between strategy and execution. The successful candidate will be able to build a curriculum, manage an agency, facilitate a workshop, navigate the review process, evaluate learner performance, and work directly with field leaders to determine whether training is changing behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial learning programs. Design, develop, and deliver new-hire onboarding, home study, disease-state, product, launch-readiness, customer engagement, business acumen, and ongoing development programs for Sales and other customer-facing teams.
  • Translate strategy into observable field behavior. Partner with commercial leaders and subject-matter experts to define what employees should know, say, and do differently because of training. Build learning objectives, practice activities, assessments, certification standards, and coaching tools around those behaviors.
  • Build role-relevant curricula. Develop blended learning journeys that may include self-directed learning, virtual instruction, live workshops, simulations, case studies, role-plays, field application assignments, manager-led reinforcement, coaching, and performance-support resources.
  • Support launch readiness. Lead assigned commercial training workstreams for pre-launch and launch, including curriculum planning, home study, workshops, certification, launch-meeting learning, field reinforcement, and new-hire readiness. Ensure learning plans remain responsive to changing scientific, regulatory, marketplace, access, and commercial information.
  • Partner across the organization. Work closely with Sales Leadership, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Human Resources, Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance to identify training needs, establish learning priorities, align content, and coordinate delivery.
  • Manage content development and review. Create training plans, design documents, presentations, facilitator guides, participant materials, digital learning, assessments, job aids, and coaching resources. Coordinate the submission, review, revision, approval, version control, and deployment of training materials through applicable Amylyx review processes.
  • Manage external partners and projects. Direct training agencies, facilitators, consultants, technology partners, and other vendors. Establish clear scopes, deliverables, budgets, timelines, review cycles, quality standards, risks, and decision points while maintaining accountability for final work quality.
  • Evaluate readiness and improve performance. Use learner assessments, certification results, facilitator observations, manager feedback, field visits, coaching information, platform data, and stakeholder input to identify capability gaps and recommend targeted remediation, reinforcement, or curriculum improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical-device, healthcare, commercial-training, or related industry. An advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement consistent with Amylyx job-level guidance.
  • At least 3 years of experience in commercial learning and development, sales training, field enablement, instructional design, sales leadership, or a related capability-building role.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering pharmaceutical or biotechnology training in areas such as disease state, clinical data, product knowledge, selling skills, customer engagement, business acumen, market access, launch readiness, or leadership development.
  • Excellent live and virtual facilitation, presentation, communication, and workshop management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects, external vendors, budgets, timelines, stakeholders, and review cycles in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial Operations, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and Human Resources.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical content-review requirements and experience coordinating training materials through medical, legal, regulatory, or promotional review.
  • Ability to travel to the Cambridge office, field locations, training programs, and company meetings as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior pharmaceutical or biotechnology field-sales, sales-leadership, field-training, or account-management experience.
  • Experience supporting a launch, rare-disease or specialty-market field team, or an organization building its first commercial capability.
  • Experience with learning management systems, digital learning, virtual facilitation, simulation, AI-supported practice, certification, analytics, and field-coaching tools.
  • Experience establishing field-training programs in a small or rapidly growing organization where the individual must both set direction and personally execute.

However, due to business considerations related to health insurance coverage and state tax regulations, we are unable to hire employees who reside and/or work in certain states.
