IMPACT:

As the Director of Product Usability & Adoption within the Operational Excellence Group (OEG), your mission is to ensure that users—especially with AXL—are empowered, confident, and successful. You will lead efforts to ensure product experiences are not only usable, but learnable, with strong adoption strategies that guide users to value from day one.

Your focus will be on user enablement: ensuring that customers, partners, and internal teams understand how to use products effectively, can adopt new features with ease, and are supported by clear, actionable in-product guidance. You'll work cross-functionally to embed adoption principles across product development, launch, and post-launch stages.

This role plays a critical part in bridging the gap between product capability and user adoption. It ensures that end users don’t just have access to features—but know when, why, and how to use them to drive outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Enablement-Driven Usability & Adoption Strategy
  • Define and champion user enablement and adoption strategies across products, especially AXL.
  • Advocate for onboarding and customer self-sufficiency as core product principles.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to prioritize features and in-product guidance that reduce ramp-up time and increase active usage.
  • Identify friction points in user learning and serve as an SME to technical enablement.
  1. User Enablement Frameworks & Best Practices
  • Develop frameworks and templates for onboarding, feature walkthroughs, and contextual help to standardize user adoption.
  • Codify best practices for broad ecosystem adoption for all user experiences, including Anaplan Applications.
  • Support internal teams with scalable models for training, documentation, and adoption toolkits.
  1. In-Product Guidance & Instructional Design
  • Assist in the strategy and execution of in-product instructions, tooltips, onboarding flows, and learning content within AXL and other enterprise tools in partnership with Product.
  • Design experiences that allow users to “learn by doing,” with embedded next-step guidance and workflows.
  • Partner with technical writers, enablement teams, and product managers to deliver just-in-time guidance that reduces support needs and drives product mastery.
  1. Internal Training & Cross-Functional Enablement
  • Act as an enablement advisor across functions—training product, customer success, support, and sales teams on product adoption principles.
  • Build and deliver enablement resources that help internal teams communicate product value and guide customers effectively.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to promote scalable user success strategies.
  1. Adoption Metrics & Continuous Improvement
  • Define success metrics related to enablement and adoption.
  • Use data and user feedback to improve onboarding paths, learning materials, and in-product instructions.
  • Provide insights to product and leadership teams on where enablement strategies are succeeding—and where more support is needed.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in user enablement, product adoption, instructional design, or customer success in a SaaS or enterprise environment, preferably with Anaplan.
  • Deep understanding of business processes and how to empower users to navigate them successfully.
  • Experience designing and deploying in-product onboarding, training content, or enablement programs at scale.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills—able to translate technical features into clear, actionable user guidance.
  • Proven track record of driving adoption and engagement through enablement-led strategies.
  • Comfortable using adoption metrics to iterate and improve the user journey.
  • Familiarity with enterprise platforms or planning tools (AXL experience a plus).

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS:

The success of a product is defined not just by what it can do, but by how well its users can realize its potential. In today’s fast-paced digital environments, it’s not enough to build great features—users must understand and adopt them quickly and confidently.

This role ensures that the AXL product and other user experiences empower users with clarity, guidance, and confidence. By building scalable enablement strategies and embedding guidance into the product experience, you’ll help users succeed faster—and drive the long-term value realization that fuels retention, growth, and customer satisfaction.
