Anaplan is looking for a Senior Director to lead our Competitive Intelligence (CI) function and turn market insight into revenue impact. This role is embedded within Solution and Product Marketing and plays a central role in aligning product strategy, sales, and go-to-market execution.  You’ll play a key role in defining how Anaplan positions, differentiates, and wins in a highly competitive Planning market.

This leader will build and scale a world-class CI team, guide cross-functional alignment, and ensure customer-facing teams are armed with clear, confident and compelling competitive narratives and positioning that emphasizes the company’s key differentiators. If you know Planning, love competition, and enjoy helping customers differentiate between fiction and facts that most matter, this role may be for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Own competitive strategy for Anaplan’s Planning solutions, translating market dynamics into actionable insights and clear differentiation about which customers care.
  • Lead and grow a distributed Competitive Intelligence team, setting vision, priorities, and operating rhythm across regions.
  • Partner deeply with Sales and Pre-Sales, enabling field teams with battlecards, talk tracks, win-loss insights, and objection handling that translates into improved win rates.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Product Marketing, Enablement, and Marketing to influence roadmap, messaging, and GTM strategy.
  • Drive executive-level competitive narratives, ensuring leaders and the field speak with one confident voice.
  • Analyze competitive trends, customer buying patterns, and market signals to anticipate moves before competitors make them.
  • Measure impact, tying CI efforts directly to pipeline influence, win rates, and deal velocity.
  • Represent the voice of the field, ensuring competitive insights are grounded in real customer conversations and deal experience.

What You Bring

Deep experience in the Planning domain, including FP&A, workforce planning, supply chain planning, or enterprise performance management.

  • Proven leadership experience, managing senior, cross-functional, and globally distributed teams.
  • Strong GTM credibility, with hands-on experience supporting Sales and Pre-Sales organizations.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, able to influence without authority and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with operational rigor, comfortable setting vision and executing at scale.
  • Clear, confident communicator, able to distill complexity into simple, compelling narratives.
  • Track record of impact, where competitive insight directly contributed to revenue growth or improved win rates.
  • Highly comfortable to work under tight timelines, and in an ambiguous, fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Can easily maneuver from tactical to strategic thinking who can execute on time with high quality deliverables. Ability to juggle multiple priorities is needed.
  • Demonstrated experience with qualitative and quantitative market research skills, including data analysis, data synthesis, SWOT analysis, and data driven recommendation will be required
  • Strong presentation skills – Ability to create and present visually compelling PowerPoints with storytelling and data visualization is a must
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent writing and verbal communication are assumed. A self-starter and seeker of new ideas and initiatives, s/he will be able to ramp up quickly.

Base Salary Range:

$206,000 - $296,000 USD
