Mechanical Engineering Product Lead and Manager

In the mechanical engineering lead role, you will execute the mechanical engineering work on a team responsible for hardware development for our customers. You will be positioned to work with a product architect and cross discipline leaders to define the product baseline and lead your mechanical engineering team to progress products from initial concept through sustained production. As a manager, you will be responsible for developing your team and all aspects expected of a functional manager (career development, performance reviews, compensation planning, etc.). Working with the Mechanical Engineering Director, you will be part of a small team to help drive consistency and execution across the overall organization. Candidates for this role should have experience in all stages of a standard product life cycle. They will have a related technical background along with personnel management experience and be able to prioritize and direct technical efforts. The right individual is expected to provide feedback on process improvement opportunities for their specific product as well as for the mechanical engineering organization as a whole.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own the mechanical engineering execution for a product line in the Atlanta office
- Provide technical mentorship across the mechanical engineering organization and improve internal processes (e.g. design and analysis)
- Work with product leadership to develop the technical baseline and program priorities for the product.
- Represent and help build your team’s culture. As a leader in the mechanical engineering organization, you will consistently interact with teams across Anduril
- Routinely interact with product team and mechanical engineering leadership
- Execute engineering work meet key milestones and targets defined by the product leadership team
- Evaluate and prioritize the various tasks required to successfully support the product development efforts.
- Mature products for large scale manufacturing and production.
- Proactively communicate strategy to help manage expectations and identify and address risks in a timely manner to help keep things on track.
- Work cross-functionally with teams including, but not limited to, electrical engineering, software engineering, flight systems, production operation, and product leadership
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years relevant industry experience
- Strong understanding of the “why” behind Vehicle and Systems design
- Experience working on mission critical DOD systems
- US Person Status is required, as this position needs to access export-controlled data
- Experience creating teams and focusing them around a common vision
- Demonstrated direct team leadership skills
- Aptitude for working with internal and external stakeholders, across a wide range of technical areas
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Defense, national security, or aerospace domain familiarity through industry or education.
- Experience with or interest in working with visual design tools to communicate ideas.
- Experience leading projects from development through manufacturing and sustainment.
- Experience working on DOD product certification efforts
- 8+ years relevant experience in design or analysis of aerospace structures or subsystems
US Salary Range
$120,700 - $180,625 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
