Anduril Maritime delivers platforms, systems, and integrated effects in the undersea domain. Our autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are the cornerstone of these capabilities, and we continually strive to push the boundaries of the possible in terms of endurance, autonomy and mission capability. The Maritime team develops and maintains core AUV products (Dive-LD and Dive-XL) and adapts and applies those products to serve a wide variety of domestic and international defense, IC and commercial customers.

As our team continues to quickly grow, we are looking for motivated candidates that are inspired to work within an extremely energetic, creative, and innovative team that is passionate about subsea robotics and exploring the open ocean. We are seeking a Managing Director, Maritime to join Anduril, working in a cutting-edge start-up environment to advance the state-of-the-possible and deliver undersea and maritime solutions to critical customers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Build a cohesive, deliberate strategy to develop, shape, and close strategic growth opportunities in new or existing markets where Anduril can penetrate, expand, and deliver best-in-class maritime capabilities at scale to US and international customers across the defense, IC and commercial spaces.
  • Lead and mentor a global team of business development leads in support of overall Maritime growth objectives and strategy.
  • Serve as the central growth authority for all Maritime products, coordinating closely with Anduril’s Global Defense and distributed product teams to drive and execute against shared objectives.
  • Assess and lead hiring of new business development staff as required to support Anduril (corporate) and Maritime (division) objectives and strategic goals.
  • Own and deliver on division-level financial performance commitments and strategic market growth. Support routine updates to division and company leadership (C-suite).
  • Own and update the Maritime division’s long-range plan, including ongoing assessments of new market and product opportunities which overlap with Anduril’s domain expertise and strategic advantage.
  • Develop and maintain close, trusted partner relationships with offices of senior military and civilian US Government customers or their commercial equivalents (C-suite and executive leadership), current and prospective customers, as well as industry partners and suppliers.
  • Support ongoing alignment of Anduril’s maritime product offerings with evolving customer demand and requirements, routinely engage stakeholders across the Anduril org (Engineering/Product, Government Relations, Program Execution) to ensure alignment of Anduril priorities with customer needs.
  • As a player-coach, lead large capture campaigns, with focus on growing programs of record or similar transitioned programs at scale for LD and XL class AUVs.
    • Coordinate and own advanced, potentially multi-year capture campaigns which will span multiple stakeholders within Anduril and the customer’s organization(s).
    • Assist the customers in meeting their requirements and capability gaps with capabilities, products, and technologies available or being developed by Anduril and in relevant defense sectors.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers to identify new business opportunities, proactively communicate with and provide strategic direction to program and product teams.
  • Communicate Anduril’s value to customers, partners, competitors, and the interested public. Project the company’s ethos, conveying insights that illustrate our approach to building next-generation defense technology and our competitive edges in doing so.
  • Foster a culture of trust, open communications, customer focus, innovation, and continuous improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • The ideal candidate will be a proven leader who has pursued and won complex sales campaigns with the Department of Defense or other key Maritime customers – ideally with experience in maritime unmanned systems and advanced maritime capability development.
  • This leader should be a builder and someone who is adaptive and who can lead new and innovative approaches to market.
  • They should know target customers across the undersea and UxV communities (defense, commercial, IC and international) and have an intimate understanding of government contracting.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the existing and prospective client base and understand the competitive landscape.
  • The successful candidate will ideally have strong connections within relevant program offices and government customer accounts in addition to experience working with classified and/or special access programs.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing campaigns to secure new funding, protect programs of record, and drive strategic initiatives through Congressional engagement.
  • This candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial, and creative environment.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant business development / capture experience in the government and/or private sector.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant commercial and defense programs and platforms, related enabling technologies, systems integration, communications, software development.
  • Demonstrated experience leading major programs directly with DoD or leading significant capture campaigns for a private sector defense company.
  • Ability to identify, establish and use important customer relationships with senior level officials and program stakeholders within defense and intelligence community.
  • Demonstrated success in leading, scaling or transitioning programs for relevant customers in the $50-100M range.
  • Understanding of business finance and government accounting principles, with a demonstrated ability to shape deals to meet company revenue, cash flow, and profitability goals.
  • Demonstrated high-energy leader who will drive performance and exhibit strong management skills with a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent writing, communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance. TS/SCI preferred.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel 30-50% in support of customer engagements and program capture/execution oversight (location dependent).
  • Preferred location is Washington, DC, Costa Mesa, CA, or Boston, MA.

US Salary Range

$232,000 - $348,000 USD

 

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
