Firmware Engineer, Space

The Anduril Imaging team develops state-of-the-art imaging systems, deployed to tackle the most significant security challenges of America and its allies. With Anduril pushing into the Space domain, the Imaging team will be tasked with developing a host of new capabilities and products. The team is looking for a Firmware Engineer to lead the architecture, standardization, and development of these new capabilities all the way from conceptualization to production. We are interested in candidates that are excited to build Anduril's next generation of products from the ground up in a new domain.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead FPGA architecture, standards, development and review processes
- Design firmware for embedded hardware, from concept to functional prototype, board bring-up, and system level integration
- Work with modern FPGAs, SoCs, and SoMs
- Troubleshoot issues that span the electrical and software boundaries, with solid skills using both lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.) and basic software debugging tools
- Work closely with hardware and software engineers to create innovative solutions for component selection, troubleshooting, and product support.
- Work on projects that rapidly go from concept to tangible product, with iterative feedback loops and real-world testing.
- Develop modern defense systems, employing the latest advancements in hardware and software integration.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience developing HDL firmware for FPGA devices
- Experience with configuration control system like (eg Git , Github etc..)
- Experience with VHDL Simulators (eg QuestaSim, Vivado Simulator, etc..)
- Experience with resolving synthesis/implementation issues and timing failures
- Experience with testing, supporting, and troubleshooting complex hardware, embedded systems, and products
- Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, current-probes, and automation of tests
- U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience developing HDL firmware for FPGA devices
- Experience with radiation hardening and mitigation techniques for FPGAs (SEU, TMR, ECC)
- Demonstrated experience designing with multi-gigabit SERDES, DDR memory busses, Ethernet MAC and PHY interfaces, FPGAs, and common communication busses like SPI and I2C
- Embedded software development experience with the use of timers, interrupts, hardware peripherals such as SPI controllers and ADCs
- Experience with developing HDL firmware for Xilinx FPGA devices and embedded real-time systems with C/C++
- Experience with component selection, schematic capture, high speed board design, and PCB layout
- Knowledge of embedded Linux development, including device trees, hardware drivers, bootloaders, and basic Unix/Linux tools
- Familiar with common programming languages like Python and MATLAB
- Familiarity with infrared image sensor technology
US Salary Range
$138,000 - $252,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
