Product Manager, Air Defense, Vehicles

Irvine, California, United States

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Air Defense team builds robots that find other robots and knock them out of the sky. At a time when air superiority can no longer be taken for granted, the Air Defense team provides mission critical capabilities to warfighters. From detection to tracking, identification, deterrence, and defeat, our family of networked sensors and effectors enables our customers to rapidly close the kill chain against a broad range of UAS threats. Working across product, engineering, business development, logistics, operations, and mission success, the Air Defense team develops, tests, deploys, and sustains the Anduril Air Defense Family of Systems in challenging operational environments worldwide.

ABOUT THE JOB

Anduril is hiring a Product Manager to own the vehicle-integrated counter-UAS (C-UAS) product line within our Air Defense portfolio. You will be the single-threaded owner for a hardware, software, and platform-integration product that fuses radars, EO/IR sensors, RF/EW payloads, and kinetic and non-kinetic effectors onto tactical ground vehicles, all orchestrated by Lattice.

You will define the product vision and roadmap, write PRDs and technical requirements, prioritize the backlog, and drive the product from discovery through qualification, fielding, and sustainment. You will partner daily with hardware engineering, embedded software, systems integration, mission software, manufacturing, supply chain, business development, and operational end users in the field. You will translate warfighter needs and threat evolution into shippable capability and frame the technical and commercial trade-offs that engineering and GTM leaders need to make sound decisions.

This is a builder role at the intersection of complex hardware, real-time software, and live-fire operational testing. The right candidate has shipped integrated hardware/software products, is fluent in agile product practices and systems engineering rigor, and is energized by getting in the dirt with users to close the loop between deployed capability and the next release.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the product: Define the vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for the vehicle-integrated C-UAS product. Maintain the PRD, write user stories, prioritize the backlog, and own the release plan across hardware, firmware, and software increments.
  • Drive cross-functional execution: Lead a matrixed team of hardware, embedded, mission software, RF, mechanical, and integration engineers from discovery through production. Run the program day-to-day - sprint reviews, design reviews, gate reviews, and hardware/software integration milestones - and unblock the team.
  • Translate user needs into requirements: Embed with operators, run user research and concept-of-employment workshops, and convert mission needs, threat data, and operational constraints into clear functional, performance, environmental (MIL-STD-810/461/464), and interface requirements.
  • Lead platform integration: Drive ICDs and integration plans for sensors, effectors, comms, power, and the host vehicle. Manage trade studies (SWaP-C, kill chain timelines, sensor coverage, effector mix) and partner with systems engineering on architecture decisions.
  • Mission expertise: You will develop a deep understanding of mission requirements for emerging capabilities, including the nature of threats, operational and resource constraints, rules of engagement, and how they intersect with the end user’s experience. You must proactively communicate this understanding to Anduril’s functional engineering teams to enhance new technologies to support evolving mission needs and product no fit. You will deeply understand product development priorities and business development opportunities, and frame trade-offs to engineering and sales decision makers.
  • Sustain at scale: Own the product through its lifecycle - configuration management, software/firmware OTA strategy, RMA and field service workflows, spares and obsolescence planning, and the customer feedback loop that drives the next revision.
  • Inform commercial strategy: Partner with business development and capture on pricing, positioning, competitive differentiation, and proposal inputs. Brief senior DoW and allied customers on capability, roadmap, and trade-offs.
  • Measure what matters: Define and track product KPIs - kill chain timeline, probability of detection, identification, and kill against representative threats, mean time between failures, mission availability, and field NPS - and use them to drive prioritization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of product management experience shipping integrated hardware and software products, ideally in defense, aerospace, automotive, robotics, or industrial IoT
  • Demonstrated track record taking products from 0 to 1 and scaling from 1 to 100 - owning the full lifecycle across discovery, requirements, development, qualification, fielding, and sustainment
  • Fluency with modern product practices (PRDs, user stories, roadmapping, backlog grooming, agile/scrum, OKRs) and systems engineering rigor (requirements traceability, ICDs, V-model, configuration management, formal V&V)
  • Technical depth sufficient to lead architecture and trade-study discussions across embedded firmware, real-time software, RF/sensors, mechanical/electrical integration, and networked distributed systems
  • Experience delivering technology to government end users (DoD or allied) or to large, regulated commercial enterprises, including managing customer-sponsored test events and field deployments
  • Eligible for a U.S. DoD Secret/Top Secret security clearance; able to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally to test ranges, integration sites, and customer locations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to brief senior DoW/government leaders, write crisp PRDs and proposal inputs, and translate engineering trade-offs for non-technical stakeholders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior product management or technical leadership in C-UAS, air defense, EW, radar, fire control, or kinetic effector systems
  • Direct experience integrating sensor and effector payloads onto ground vehicles, including ICDs, MIL-STD environmental qualification, and EMI/EMC compliance
  • Hands-on engineering background (EE, ME, software, RF, controls, or systems) earlier in career
  • Familiarity with C2 and mission software stacks, software-defined architectures, microservices, gRPC/protobuf, ROS2, or equivalent
  • Active U.S. DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance
  • Prior U.S. military or allied service, especially in air defense artillery (ADA), aviation, fires, or related operational community
  • Experience supporting Foreign Military Sales (FMS), DoD acquisition processes (5000-series), and rapid acquisition pathways (MTA, OTA, SOFWERX, AFWERX)

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
