ABOUT THE TEAM

The Air Dominance and Strike MRB Mechanical Engineering Team supports the production, sustainment, and airworthiness of Group 5 air vehicles and missile platforms. The team is focused on keeping fielded and in-production systems flying — evaluating nonconforming hardware, driving Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions, resolving production issues, and ensuring mechanical subsystems meet performance and safety requirements throughout their operational lifecycle. The team works at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and quality to maintain the pace of production without compromising airworthiness.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead and grow a team of mechanical sustainment engineers responsible for evaluating nonconforming mechanical hardware and determining engineering dispositions on fielded and in-production Group 5 air vehicles
  • Hire, mentor, and develop engineers on the team, including establishing a path to MRB signature/delegated authority for team members
  • Set technical standards and review complex or high-risk dispositions and repairs, acting as an escalation point for the most difficult nonconformances on mechanical subsystems, actuation, and structural-mechanical interfaces
  • Own team workload and prioritization, ensuring dispositions and repairs are generated accurately and on schedule to keep production flowing
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Design Engineering, and Supply Chain leadership to resolve cross-functional blockers and align on priorities
  • Drive root cause and corrective action (RCCA) programs across the team to reduce recurring nonconformances and production escapes
  • Build and continuously improve MRB processes, tools, and standard work for mechanical hardware as production rates increase
  • Report on team throughput, nonconformance trends, and open risk to engineering and program leadership
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on MRB discipline, mechanical fundamentals, and cross-functional coordination
  • Travel to vendor, production, and test sites as needed to support hardware builds and troubleshoot issues directly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including direct experience evaluating nonconformances and dispositioning hardware in a production, depot, or maintenance environment
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing engineers, either as a people manager or in a senior technical leadership capacity
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo, or SolidWorks) and strong command of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Ability to perform and review structural and mechanical analysis (stress, deflection, fatigue) using hand calculations and FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to set technical standards and review others' work across a team of engineers
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills — able to represent the team to Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and senior engineering leadership
  • Self-driven with strong autonomy and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior MRB signature/delegated authority on a production aerospace program
  • Experience standing up or scaling an MRB function in a high-rate or rapidly scaling production environment
  • Experience with Siemens NX/Teamcenter or other PLM systems
  • Familiarity with military airworthiness and certification processes (Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft certification, FAA STC, Military Airworthiness Certification)
  • Experience with FMEA and other risk assessment methodologies
  • Hands-on experience in an aircraft manufacturing, depot repair, or sustainment environment
  • Broad experience across a range of aircraft or missile programs
