About the role

Angi is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking International Payroll Lead to lead payroll operations across five countries - Netherlands, Germany, Austria, United Kingdom and France. 

This critical role combines both strategic oversight and hands-on execution of end-to-end payroll functions to ensure accuracy, consistency, standardization, and compliance with SOX controls. As a key member of our Accounting and People Operations teams, you’ll report to the Senior Manager, Global Payroll based in the United States and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across our international organization.

While this is a remote position, we are a global company and are looking for applicants located in eastern or central time zones to align with our team's working hours.

What you’ll do

  • Own and manage end-to-end payroll operations for Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, France and Austria, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local labor laws, tax regulations, and internal governance standards
  • Partner with external payroll providers and internal stakeholders to streamline operations and resolve issues
  • Serve as the go-to contact for payroll questions from employees, vendors, and internal teams, ensuring clear and accurate communication
  • Maintain and improve payroll-related systems, processes, and controls
  • Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations for Accounting, Finance and HR teams
  • Assist with payroll journal entry preparation during month-end close
  • Support audits and implement recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure data accuracy and alignment with employee lifecycle events (e.g. onboarding, promotions, terminations)
  • Support the U.S. payroll team on an as-needed basis

Who you are

  • 4+ years proven experience managing multi-country payroll operations across European jurisdictions, experience in NL, UK, DE, or FR is a plus
  • Experience managing the payroll implications of equity awards across multiple jurisdictions, including taxation, withholding, and reporting obligations
  • Strong knowledge of European labor law and statutory requirements is required
  • Strong knowledge of United States and Canadian labor law and payroll practices is preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships with external payroll providers across multiple countries
  • Outstanding internal & external-facing customer service skills with a sense of urgency
  • Proficient in international HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., Personio, UKG/Immedis, ADP, SAP, or similar)
  • Must be self-driven and able to work autonomously
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and international environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Fluent written and spoken English is required

Compensation & Benefits

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $70,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience and performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as cost of living.
