Position Summary

The HR & Operations Manager will serve as a strategic execution partner to the Director, HR & Operations.  This position is responsible for leading day-to-day HR operations, ensuring compliance and process excellence across all functional areas, including employee engagement, talent acquisition, compensation, performance management, employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, training & development, and benefits.  This position offers a hybrid schedule, typically requiring two days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Talent Acquisition. Lead full-cycle recruiting process by ensuring a seamless and positive candidate experience, and develop diversified sourcing channels to attract talented individuals to meet company recruitment targets. Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders and external recruiting resources.
  • Employee Relations. Serve as a trusted partner to managers on employee relations and performance management-related matters. Coach and advise leaders on how to resolve complex employee relations matters in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Performance Management. Proactively engage in performance management: train the people managers on how to do efficient performance management, support people managers when cases happen, and further develop the performance management process.
  • Training & Development. Oversee training programs and coach and develop team members to maintain a high-performing team in alignment with Company values.
  • Culture & Engagement. Recommend and implement strategies to build and maintain a strong company culture, encourage employee engagement, and improve communication channels, with a focus on providing a great employee experience and retaining talented individuals.
  • Operational Compliance. Assess, develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, employee handbook, and compliance practices in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • HR Systems. Oversee HR data integrity within internal systems and prepare reports and analytics to inform business decisions.
  • Compensation & Benefits. Analyzes trends in compensation, equity, and benefits; researches and proposes competitive incentive pay programs. Evaluate current programs and make recommendations for improvements to remain competitive in the industry.
  • Onsite Leadership. Oversee Westlake Village office operations, including safety, managing supply inventory, office maintenance, and continuously build and maintain a positive, efficient, and compliant working environment for employees.
  • Other. Support regular all-staff onsite meetings and team-building events; participate, lead, and/or manage HR projects and initiatives as they arise to meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 8+ years of related experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, adaptable to a start-up company’s culture, working with deadlines, and showing accountability.
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-state and federal law. HR Certification (CCP, SPHR, or PHRca) is a plus.
  • Experience managing and mentoring HR team members.
  • Highly resourceful with strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS Systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional maturity to consult with senior management and remain composed during periods of high pressure and ambiguity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, use good judgment, and influence positive outcomes.
  • Excellent collaborator, who reaches across boundaries internally and externally to develop an extensive network of partnerships. Demonstrated ability to apply HR knowledge to resolve complex business challenges.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details and manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively. 
  • Self-directed work style, with the ability to work autonomously with minimal direction and deliver results with great customer service skills; action-oriented and operates with a sense of urgency.

Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000
