Anatomic Pathologist
The Animal Medical Center is seeking an Anatomic Pathologist to join our Pathology veterinary team. The Anatomic Pathologist plays an important role in understanding the causes and effects of animal diseases, improving animal health, through diagnosing diseases by examining animal tissue and body fluids, particularly and microscopic examinations of tissue to determine cause of death or disease. the examination of animal tissue and body veterinary comparative studies. By meticulously investigating and diagnosing diseases, Animal Pathologists support veterinarians, inform research, and improve animal care.
Minimum Qualifications
A DVM or equivalent degree, a graduate degree in a related field, and board certified or board eligible by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (or equivalent).
- Training: ACVP/ECVP board certification, a PhD, and/or post-doctoral training or similar research experience in biomedical science.
- Licensure: NY State Veterinary License
- Knowledge of: Neuropathology and cardio pathology
- Ability to (required skills): Conduct teaching rounds for interns and residents, specialty-specific rounds, hospital wide rounds and mortality rounds.
- Education: DVM or equivalent degree, a graduate degree in a related field, and be board certified or board eligible by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (or equivalent)
- Experience: Necropsy and tissue examinations, analyzing results of laboratory test and preparing detailed pathology reports.
Specific Duties/Responsiblities:
- Complete post-mortem exams on small and exotic animals
- Oversee preparation of tissue for testing.
- Complete testing of blood and tissue samples
- Discusses study results with colleagues.
- Analyze results of laboratory tests and studies.
- Conduct research studies.
- Works in conjunction with staff veterinarians and/or residents in the development of research projects
- Determine animal’s cause of death and diagnosis disease.
- Interact with and advise lab personnel in proper specimen handling and processing techniques.
- Advise government agencies on the spread and progression of animal diseases when needed.
- Practice and promote ethical laboratory procedures.
- Maintain proficiency and develop clinical diagnostic skills.

$165,000 - $185,000 USD
