This role combines strategic creative leadership with hands-on design expertise, particularly within Ready-to-Wear, which remains the core of our product offering.

Working in close partnership with the Creative Director and the Chief Product Officer, the Head of Design will drive creative direction, ensure seasonal coherence, and anchor the brand’s aesthetic while guaranteeing alignment with broader business goals. This position combines strategic creative leadership with hands-on design ownership and requires an exceptional eye for silhouettes, fabrication, fit, and styling.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Creative Direction & Partnership with the Creative Director

    • Translate the Creative Director’s vision into seasonal concepts, product narratives, aesthetics, and key looks.

    • Ensure alignment, creative coherence, and elevated execution across Ready-to-Wear and Accessories.

    • Define and evolve silhouettes, color palettes, styling direction, and the overall ANINE BING creative DNA, ensuring a balance of modernity, timelessness, and market relevance.

  • Design Leadership & Collection Ownership

    • Oversee the full design cycle across all categories, from concept development to final product review.

    • Personally lead the Ready-to-Wear category, ensuring strong silhouettes, fit consistency, fabric excellence, and a clear product identity.

    • Partner with Merchandising to align collections with assortment plans, pricing structures, segmentation, and margin requirements.

    • Lead key seasonal milestones including Proto Reviews, Fittings, and Costing meetings.

    • Work closely with Product Development and Production to ensure feasibility, execution quality, and consistency with brand standards.

  • Team Leadership, Structure & Capability Building

    • Lead, mentor, and elevate a multidisciplinary team of designers across soft woven, tailoring, jersey, denim, knitwear, footwear, and accessories.

    • Provide clear creative direction, structured workflows, and actionable feedback.

    • Build and nurture a culture of collaboration, constructive candor, clarity, and excellence.

    • Integrate specialist freelancers (print, graphic, pattern-making) to support category needs and creative elevation.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner closely with the Head of Merchandising on product strategy, assortment architecture, and commercial insights.

    • Collaborate with Product Development & Production on materials, prototyping, construction, and product execution.

    • Maintain clear cross-functional communication throughout the product calendar and ensure transparency across teams.

    • Incorporate consumer insights, performance data, and market feedback into creative decision-making.

  • Operational Excellence & Creative Process Management

    • Ensure adherence to seasonal calendars, deliverables, and PLM/ERP workflows.

    • Strengthen and streamline creative processes to improve speed, clarity, and cross-team alignment.

    • Maintain consistency across fits, silhouettes, finishes, and construction details.

    • Continuously refine ways of working within the Paris Product organization to support growth and creative excellence.

Requirements:

  • Experience

    • 10–15+ years of experience in fashion design, with significant leadership experience in contemporary or premium womenswear.

    • Strong hands-on expertise in Ready-to-Wear design is essential.

    • Proven experience leading multi-category creative teams.

    • Demonstrated collaboration with Merchandising, Product Development, and Production functions.
