Position: 

The Executive Director, Commercial Insights will lead comprehensive analytics and market research initiatives at Annexon Biosciences. This role is responsible for driving strategic decision-making through advanced analytical techniques and in-depth market insights, supporting product development, commercialization, and competitive positioning. The Executive Director will collaborate across functions to inform business strategies, optimize resource allocation, and ensure that insights from both analytics and market research are seamlessly integrated into the commercial organization. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Lead the development and execution of analytics and market research strategies that provide actionable insights on product performance, market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive intelligence. 
  • Utilize advanced analytical methodologies, including predictive modeling, segmentation, and data mining, to generate insights from secondary data sources (e.g., claims, prescription data) and primary research (e.g., surveys, focus groups).  
  • Oversee the analysis of promotional mix, sales performance, market share, and competitor activities, ensuring alignment with commercial strategies and business goals.  
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Finance teams to integrate insights into business plans and performance tracking.  
  • Develop and manage forecasting models to support product launches, sales planning, and long-term commercial strategies.  
  • Identify and analyze emerging market trends, competitive dynamics, and potential risks to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.  
  • Manage relationships with external data providers and research vendors, optimizing the use of analytics tools and intelligence platforms.  
  • Lead the development of dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time insights into commercial performance, market trends, and key business metrics.  
  • Present analytical findings and market insights to senior leadership, guiding strategic decision-making and operational improvements.  
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical use of data in all analytics and research activities.  

 Education, Experience, and Skills: 

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field. 
  • 12+ years of experience in commercial analytics, market research, and competitive intelligence within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.  
  • Expertise in secondary data analysis, primary market research, competitor analysis, and healthcare databases.  
  • Proven ability to apply advanced analytics techniques, such as predictive modeling and machine learning.  
  • Strong proficiency in data analytics tools and platforms (e.g., SAS, R, Python, Tableau) and competitive intelligence databases (e.g., EvaluatePharma, IMS).  
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. 

Preferred:  

  • An MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in rare diseases, biologics, or specialty pharmaceuticals.  
  • Familiarity with healthcare economics, payer analytics, and reimbursement data.  

Salary Range: $249,000 to $300,000
