Scientist I/Scientist II, Chemical Biology (Must Have Intact Mass Spectrometry Experience)
Job Summary
Antares Therapeutics is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scientist I/ II to join our Chemical Biology team. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and executing experiments to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets, elucidate mechanism(s) of inhibition, enable detailed biophysical characterization of molecular interactions involved and perform screens for hit identification and SAR advancement. Achieving these objectives will involve innovative chemoproteomic methodologies and the utilization of advanced HPLC and mass spectroscopy instrumentation. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment at the intersection of chemistry and biology.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply chemical biology techniques (e.g., activity-based protein profiling, covalent-probe evaluation, MS-based biophysical compound library screening, or other advanced proteomic approaches) to identify and validate potential therapeutic targets and to identify, characterize and support progression of hit compounds.
- Advance and develop peptide/protein sample preparation approaches designed for target enrichment and throughput
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings at internal meetings. Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records as well as up-to-date electronic notebooks.
- Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the chemical proteomics group, including inventory management, reagent ordering & preparation, HPLC and mass spectrometer instrument calibration and routine maintenance.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
- B.S. in Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant research experience in academia/industry OR M.S. with 4+ years of relevant research experience in academia/industry
- An understanding of protein chemistry with experience performing biochemical/biophysical assays using recombinant proteins and preparation of peptide samples from different cell and tissue sources.
- Hands-on experience with liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation operation and maintenance is required
- Familiarity with best practices for proteomics data analyses, their underlying statistical principles, and methods for accurate quantitation.
