Lab Operations Associate II
The laboratory operations mission is to support, supply, and improve the efficiency of work and safety for our scientists. A successful incumbent will be proactive, observant, detail oriented and a clear communicator. Familiarity with the equipment and operations of a BSL-1 molecular biology lab is required. A “can do attitude” and the ability to wear many hats are qualities a successful Lab Operations Associate must have to thrive in this position. This position will help manage the daily operations of the lab including maintaining inventory, receiving and logging in deliveries, cleaning and sterilizing glassware, and preparing media and stock solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Washing and autoclaving glassware, pipette tips, tubes, 96-well plates etc.
- Assisting with lab organization and inventory management by monitoring stock levels, receiving deliveries, and placing orders daily.
- Preparing liquid media, agar plates, and 96-well plates for molecular biology.
- Preparing buffers, stock solutions, and competent cells for molecular biology.
- Operating and calibrating liquid handling robots.
- Troubleshooting equipment on an as needed basis and scheduling repairs.
- Working with vendors for the procurement of lab consumables and equipment.
- Communicate and work closely with R&D staff to understand and anticipate their needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned[1]
Qualifications/Experience:
- Excellent ability to communicate with others.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Computer competent.
- Experience with molecular biology equipment and consumables.
- Experience with equipment repair is a plus.
- Ability to follow written protocols and attention to details.
- Ability to write simple SOPs.
- Physically able to lift 40 pounds or more.
- Associates degree or 2+ years of college (preferred)
- 1-3 years lab operations experience in biotech.
Additional Information:
Full-time base salary range of $70,000 - $85,000, plus an annual bonus potential and equity opportunities.
